Hello, I’m a bat.
I don’t drink blood, and I’m not out to get stuck in your hair. If I ever end up in your home, please don’t chase me with sticks or brooms—I’m already scared, and I never wanted to frighten you.

Sometimes, if I land, I can’t take off again without help. Just use a towel to guide me outside, or turn off the lights inside, switch on one outside, and leave a door open. I’ll find my way out.

I’m not your enemy. I eat mosquitoes and pests every night, helping you more than you know. But my roosts are disappearing as forests and old buildings vanish, leaving me with fewer places to live.

So if you see me, please show a little kindness. I just want to live, too. 💙
