Wow what a track this one was. I got a call the other night from Steve Himmelrick about a buck that he shot and was unsure of the shot placement. We made a game plan to meet the next morning to run the track.

We met up the next day at the gas station so I could follow Steve to his hunting spot. Upon meeting him I got to look at the arrow and noticed what looked to be gut material on the broadhead. Once we arrive at the shot location we put Jewel down and let her do her thing. After a few short mins we made it to the hunters last bed and Jewel keeps going. We quickly advanced another 100 yards and she starts bird do***ng. This morning was very bad for some swirly winds and Jewel had got off the scent. After a quick reset at the last bed Jewel stayed on the line and we advanced another 300 yards to two more beds. From the beds Jewel was wind scenting hard and going nuts. I told Steve I was going to have to reset due to us coming out of the beds wrong. When we made it back to the beds this time Jewel quickly went straight over the hill and that’s where we found Steve’s buck in its final bed. This was a very difficult track for us due to all the scent in the beds and the buck being very close to us. Not to mention that this is some of the most thick tracking I have ever been in. Most places you could only see about 5 to 10 yards.

Congratulations again Steve on this great buck we definitely worked for this one. That’s another hungry night for the coyotes and another tag punched! What a Weirton urban stud!

This track happened on the 12th of October and jewel tore this thing up. After talking to Devan on the phone we made a game plan to get his hands on his buck. We had discussed that I had a track before him that morning but after that we would get right to this one.

When We arrived at this track and I placed Jewel at impact I noticed immediately that she started to get a little “birdy” which is a sign I like to see her do. Although we did have to make a restart at the beginning of this track due to it. I was able to get her to put her nose back down and actually track the line and that’s when the magic happens. We quickly advanced through some very thick country and she started bird do***ng again. This time she was a lot closer to the deer and she was able to pin point exactly where the buck was at. After a few short minutes we were standing over this awesome West Virginia buck.

Well let me start off by saying congratulations Addison on your very first compound kill. This will be one that you never forget and neither will I. Its not very often you see young kids getting after it with a compound this is some very impressive stuff!

We arrived in Weirton on 10-12-25 around 10:30 to meet up with Shon and Addison to see if we could help locate her buck. After meeting at sheetz we followed them to there property. From there we got started at the shot location. After a few minutes of us talking over the shot again the only thing left to do was to put jewel on the track and let her do her thing and that she did. We started on the track and Jewel quickly hit the line and we were off from there. After a few minutes we quickly advanced to hunters last blood and we kept going. After a short 450 yard track and we were standing on top of a beautiful West Virginia 10 point.

I would like to thank Shon and Addison again for trusting in us to find your trophy. That’s another tag punched and another hungry night for the coyotes.
