I’ve been thinking a lot about what we call philanthropy.
As I prepare to head to Martha’s Vineyard with Geaux Girl Giving for our fundraising session during Black Philanthropy Month, I’m reminded by my favorite philanthropist Your favorite philanthropist 🌱 that giving has never been foreign to our communities.
We’ve been giving our time. Sharing our talents. Pooling our resources. Opening our homes. Mentoring our young people. Creating opportunities. Showing up.
Sometimes philanthropy is a check. Sometimes it’s a connection. Sometimes it’s your expertise. Sometimes it’s simply being the person who shows up. We have always been philanthropists.
So I’m curious: what does philanthropy look like in your life?
Time? Talent? Treasure? Testimony?
And who taught you how to give?
