From Brixton and Leeds to New York and Denver, dubstep has spread its roots across the world and created a culture with some of the most die-hard fans in the music industry.

Through it all, 𝗧𝗿𝗶𝘀𝘁𝗮𝗻 𝗥𝗼𝗮𝗸𝗲 and 𝗔𝗻𝗱𝗿𝗲 𝗙𝗲𝗿𝗻𝗮𝗻𝗱𝗲𝘇 of have contributed to the development of this ever-growing scene while creating a legacy of experimentation and vigorous advocacy for the underground.

Recently, we spoke with 𝗧𝗿𝗶𝘀𝘁𝗮𝗻 𝗥𝗼𝗮𝗸𝗲, calling from his studio in Christchurch, New Zealand, to learn about the 𝗧𝗿𝘂𝘁𝗵 story, the difficulties of making it in the space, creative flow, their desire to support burgeoning artists, Roake’s thoughts on gatekeeping and keeping the scene alive, their upcoming show on Halloween at Mission Ballroom, and lots more.

“I think it’s pretty counterproductive…think about the artist that you’re preventing people from finding out about. 𝙔𝙤𝙪 𝙘𝙤𝙪𝙡𝙙 𝙗𝙚 𝙩𝙝𝙚𝙞𝙧 𝙖𝙢𝙗𝙖𝙨𝙨𝙖𝙙𝙤𝙧, 𝙨𝙝𝙖𝙧𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙩𝙝𝙚𝙢 𝙩𝙤 𝙚𝙫𝙚𝙧𝙮𝙤𝙣𝙚.”

It’s this particular mindset that Tristan Roake of has used to guide his ambitions with , a label that has been devoted to championing the underground and supporting burgeoning dubstep artists for the past decade.

At this past September, we were treated to all of the above as fans from across the country gathered on the sunny shores of Sandy Point State Park to celebrate great music, awesome vibes, tasty food, and beautiful views 🦪

10 years ago today, Tipper dropped his 25th* extended premier titled, 𝑰𝒕𝒔 𝑳𝒊𝒌𝒆.

Containing tracks like “Distal,” “Table Flipping” VIP, “Flares at Dawn,” and of course the crowd favorite, “Its Like,” the release landed with an explosion that is still credited as one of the most significant contributions to the glitch and left-field bass scene from that era.

Today, the popularity of the release has only grown, with Tipper putting together one of his angriest VIPs yet, featuring the reinvention of the EP’s title track (featured song).
