Zimbabwean writer NoViolet Bulawayo has won the 2025 Best of Caine Award.

She first won the Caine Prize for African Writing in 2011 for her short story “Hitting Budapest”, which later became the opening chapter of her acclaimed debut novel We Need New Names.

The new Best of Award celebrates the most outstanding winner from the Prize’s 25-year history, cementing Bulawayo’s place as one of Africa’s most powerful literary voices.
