Welp ... the time has come to bid this page, "Goodbye." I've been putting it off for almost five months since I made the move away from radio and the City of New Orleans. But since it's the New Year, I think its time to put old things away. Thank you all for following me on this journey ... and always remember to keep it real!

"One thing he told me a lot in the last few weeks was, 'Always shine your light,'" his daughter Samantha Beaulieu said. "He was a light. He did a lot for a lot of people, almost up to the end."

From the New Orleans Association of Black Journalists (NOABJ) ...

The New Orleans Association of Black Journalists mourns the loss of one of this city's truly fearless, groundbreaking pioneers, Mr. Paul Beaulieu. From his start as a op-ed columnist with the States-Item; his work in television with Dimensions on WVUE, Perspectives in Black on WWL, and the straight-talk cable access show Between the Lines; his role as the publisher of the Spectator; to his position as dean of Real Talk for Real Times as General Manager of WBOK 1230 AM and host of Showtime in the Afternoon ... Mr. Beaulieu was the embodiment of all that NOABJ and NABJ stand for.

He was once quoted as saying, "What most people have told me is that they applaud the resistance to BS. I called it being real. I called it just being truthful and trying to recognize stuff for what it is." His commitment to speaking truth to power and being a voice for the voiceless in New Orleans' Black community made him a more than apt mentor and teacher to three generations of Black journalists and communicators in this city. As we cherish his memory and celebrate his legacy, we will keep his wife, Cynthia, and daughters, Lyndsay and Samantha, in our thoughts and prayers. May the example he set challenge each of us to be a bit more courageous in our work each day.
