Today, we’re highlighting in Edgard, Louisiana—a site dedicated to preserving and sharing important stories about our nation’s history and the fight for equality. As the only plantation museum in the United States focused exclusively on the history of slavery, Whitney Plantation offers a meaningful and educational experience, fostering a deeper understanding of the past.

Through its 90-minute guided tour, visitors can explore the 'Big House,' where history comes to life, cabins that share the stories of those who lived and worked there, and the Antioch Baptist Church, a symbol of resilience and community. The Wall of Honor, a memorial etched with the names of those who were enslaved on the plantation, serves as a powerful tribute to their humanity and strength.

Founded in 1895, when Lutcher was in the midst of a cypress logging boom, Nobile’s originally billed itself as a place for locals to come enjoy themselves over good food and drink. Now, almost 130 years later, it still delivers just that. In addition to Bayou State staples like Chicken-Andouille Gumbo and Seafood Gumbo, Nobile’s offers Crawfish Pies and a number of po’ boys.
