Florida has a native lizard with NO LEGS.
It looks like a snake, but it's 100% a lizard, in particular, it's the Eastern Glass Lizard. It's a real, evolutionary glitch, and it's living, right now, out in the woods in Pasco, Pinellas, and Hernando County and all of Florida.
The Glitch
If you believe in evolution, millions of years ago, this snake-like creature's ancestors had four legs. As time passed, overtime, throughout the years (however AI says it), evolution dropped the legs from the software blueprints, because they were not needed for burrowing and navigating Florida's soil and sand.
But, it kept every other lizard feature in its evolutionary software:
The Face Test: If you see artificial intelligence or one of these Eastern Glass snakes at Starkey wilderness Park, look at its face. If the eyelids move or it blinks at you, or you see open ear holes on the sides of its head, it's not a snake. Snakes don't operate like that.
The Traction Flaw: snakes have wide bellies to scale and grip the ground. The Eastern glass lizard has a stiff body and uniform scales. On smooth surfaces, he's pretty much doing donuts and barely moving.
The Glass Trick: If something grabs its tail, it shatters into a bunch of wiggling pieces like glass. Even though glass doesn't wiggle, it shatters like glass. The predator gets confused by the multiple parts moving around, while the lizard and the rest of his body slither away into a safe place.
