Certain Christian arguments get repeated with confidence and treated like mic drops, but many of them don’t hold up outside the belief bubble. This video looks at why familiar talking points sound decisive inside Christian spaces, how rarely they’re challenged, and how simple counter-research can change the conversation. If you care about faith, doubt, or thinking more critically about what you believe, this conversation matters.

Jesus predicted “three days and three nights” in Matthew 12:40, but the traditional resurrection timeline does not give him three nights. Friday afternoon to Sunday morning gives parts of three days, but only two nights. This is one of those Bible problems Christians usually solve by changing the wording into something easier to defend.

Why do children get cancer? Christians often explain suffering through free will. But childhood cancer isn’t the result of someone’s moral choice. If God is all-powerful, all-knowing, and perfectly loving, how do we account for suffering that appears unnecessary? This question played a major role in my deconstruction after 25 years in Christian ministry.

Jesus makes promises about prayer that do not hold up as written. In Matthew 7, Jesus says “everyone who asks receives,” and in Matthew 18, he says if two believers agree about anything they ask, the Father will do it. But prayer does not work that way in the real world, so Christians add qualifiers like “God’s will,” “God’s timing,” or “God answered differently.” The problem is that those qualifiers are not in these passages…they protect the doctrine over the text.

Part 4 of 4. We examined justice. We examined love. We examined belief. If eternal hell collapses under those, then what keeps it standing? For many people, it’s fear. Fear of being wrong. Fear of punishment. Fear that even questioning might cost us eternity. But fear is not a stable foundation for truth. If a belief system only survives because people are afraid to question it, that’s not strength. That’s a warning sign. If your nervous system still reacts when you think about hell, that doesn’t mean you’re weak. It means those ideas were wired deeply over time. Eventually, that fear fades. It did for me. You are allowed to examine what you were taught. And if a loving God exists, he is not threatened by your doubt.

Part 3 of 4. If eternal hell depends on belief, we need to ask a serious question: do we actually choose what we believe? After spending twenty years as a Christian and preaching weekly, I reached a point where I simply wasn’t convinced anymore. Not because I wanted to walk away. Not because I was angry. But because belief follows persuasion. If belief isn’t voluntary, then eternal punishment for unbelief raises a major moral problem. How can someone be judged forever for a psychological state they didn’t choose? In the next video, we’re going to talk about fear, and what might really be holding this system together.

Part 2 of 4 …. If Christianity claims that God is love, then eternal conscious torment creates a serious moral tension. When I was preaching weekly as a pastor, I had to ask whether the doctrine of hell is actually compatible with the idea of perfect love. Redefining hell as “separation from God” may soften the language, but it doesn’t resolve the deeper issue. If love has any coherent meaning, it cannot include endless suffering. In the THIRD video in this series, we’ll examine whether belief is even something we freely choose — and why that matters for eternal punishment.

Part 1 of 4 …. I no longer believe in hell, and the reason is moral, not emotional. If God is perfectly just, then punishment should make moral sense. But eternal conscious torment raises serious questions about proportionality, justice, and what we mean when we call something “righteous.” This is Part 1 of a 4-part series examining the moral coherence of hell from within a Christian framework. If you’ve ever wrestled with the justice of eternal punishment, you’re not alone.

I used to preach 2 Timothy 3:16 as proof that the whole Bible was perfect and inerrant. But “All Scripture is God-breathed” does not mean what most Christians think it means. The verse refers to Jewish Scripture, not the completed Bible Christians hold today.

Former megachurch pastor reflecting on certainty, doubt, and what it meant to follow the questions wherever they led. An honest introduction to my journey out of certainty and into a more thoughtful way of living with uncertainty.

If God creates people knowing they will suffer in hell forever, that does not look like love to me. This is one of my deepest problems with Calvinism, predestination, Romans 9, and the idea that God can create people for destruction and still be called perfectly good.
