After a first day of canvassing in Western Pennsylvania, the "signs" are everywhere. The ones on the lawns and on the porches...and, the ones that are in our hearts and minds, that we need to hold on to and foster.

This is a first prototype of another UnLabelMe T-shirt (a typo needs to be corrected and air quotes needed on two words). And yes, I did create this primarily for Men and, of course, anyone is welcome to wear it. Relationships between the genders are of deep importance to me, and I have particular interest in connections of all types between Women and Men. I am also fascinated by words and language around gender and sexuality. Like the "F" word, as an example, can have such different meanings and energies depending on how it's used (and even whether you want to do that thing "with" or "to" someone, as an example). As a Feminist growing up, when women would say they had Pen*sEnvy, I would realize that on several levels, I had "PussyEnvy." That is why I am inspired with this shirt, because I loathe the way men are emasculated when people call them "pu***es." I would surely rather be thought of as weak than being an ass, or mean, or any such notions associated with being called a Dick. "Label Me to See Me. UnLabel Me to KNOW Me."

One of my favorites from the UnLabelMe's air quote series. You know those labels/words/phrases that we are compelled to raise and flick our fore, and middle, fingers when we say them. To me, "Normal" is one of the mosey challenging societal labels, it sounds like it's objective when it's really a completely subjective notion. Like so@many things. People run to this one, and many run away from it. What does it mean anyway? And who gets to decide? We do - for ourselves. "Label Me to See Me. UnLabel Me to KNOW Me." San Miguel de Allende, MX. Approaching Day of the Dead in 11/1, how perfect it is being here, having been spending so much time in the last two years with people in the world of "end-of-life." Doing deep dives with Doulas who are so connected to people as they transition, who understand more than most the dance between death and life. UnLabeling Death. It's been a profound experience and gift. And here, in Mexico, the celebration of that dance is profound, calling in the spirits of our ancestors. I feel so blessed.
