THEY WERE TOLD TO SERVE THE FOOD… NOT REDECORATE THE KITCHEN.
Laurel: “Ollie, do you think we’re doing this correctly?”
Hardy: “Stanley, we are carrying plates. How difficult can it be?”
Laurel: “I dropped one earlier.”
Hardy: “I know.”
Laurel: “And you dropped three.”
Hardy: “That was because you bumped into me.”
Laurel: “I was standing still.”
Hardy: “You were standing still in the doorway.”
Laurel: “Yes. I was waiting for you.”
Hardy: “Waiting for me to do what?”
Laurel: “I wasn’t sure.”
Hardy: “Then why are you carrying twelve bowls?”
Laurel: “The chef said we needed more.”
Hardy: “More what?”
Laurel: “Bowls.”
Hardy: “There are already twenty on that shelf!”
Laurel: “Yes, but these ones are cleaner.”
Hardy: “Stanley… those are the same bowls.”
Laurel: “Oh. That explains why they look familiar.”
Hardy pauses, looks at the mountain of dishes, and slowly realizes they have been carrying the same plates back and forth for the last half hour.
And the chef in the background?
He already knows exactly how this is going to end.
Two waiters. One doorway. A mountain of dishes. And absolutely no chance that dinner is arriving on time.
Be honest—would you trust Laurel & Hardy to serve your dinner?
