🎯 #1 Pre-Match Mindset Mistake Wrestlers Make

Too many wrestlers put themselves down before stepping on the mat 😬

focusing on their opponent instead of what they’ve already accomplished.

🧠 Step 1: Identify the voice in your head
• “I can’t do this” → Label it ‘Nervous Me’
• “They’re better than me” → Label it ‘Doubt Me’

💡 Step 2: Flip the focus
• Focus on your accomplishments
• Focus on your work ethic
• Remember: Everything you’re feeling… your opponent is feeling too

This is the stretch where details decide everything.
Not more miles… not more chaos… but better choices every day.

Post-season mode means:
🔥 High-ROI reps (the skills that score most) see: leg attacks both sides of body left and right
🧠 Sharper mindset — calm, present, confident
💤 Prioritizing sleep + recovery like it’s training
🥗 Fueling instead of just “getting by”
🎯 Focusing on ex*****on, not pressure

You don’t need to become a different wrestler you need to become the best version of the one you already are.

The #1 mistake coaches, and athletes make as the season goes on:

They think doing more such as adding volume (increasing), longer practices, more conditioning will help athletes peak.

But the truth?

That usually does the opposite which causes them to break down and have worst performances as the season progresses

The smartest coaches scale back practice time and intensity, and they double down on things that actually move the needle:

• recovery and nutrition
• strength maintenance
• mindset and confidence
• sharpening their best techniques — not adding a bunch of new ones (see: shiny object syndrome)

Athletes don’t peak by being exhausted.

They peak when they feel fresh, confident, and dangerous with their best stuff.

This is where having a coach who understands the science behind training really matters.

Do less. Do it better. Peak when it counts. 🧠⚔️
