Update from Sunny Clifford of Young Lakoa

I’m now a mother of three children and I stay home with them on the Rosebud Rez while attending graduate school full time and online. I entered into a Master of Social Work with a concentration in American Indian/Alaska Native communities at the Brown School of Social Work at Washington University in St. Louis. I am a Buder Scholar and will be graduating in August of this year. I am interested in policy advocacy for equity but also am interested in advancing educational equity with a focus of incorporating true histories into the US curriculums. I hope to continue my path of creating change within my tribal community through an organization of my own, yet to be created as it is still a working vision. Thanks to everyone for the love and support! It is appreciated.

BEI BEI is a documentary about Bei Bei Shuai, a Chinese immigrant to the United States who made national headlines as the first woman in Indiana to be charged with feticide because of her attempted su***de while pregnant. The film is a legal and political documentary with two extraordinary women at its center: one, a Chinese immigrant charged with first degree murder and the other, a successful white collar lawyer who unwittingly finds herself defending a woman against legally unprecedented charges.
