Are you ready to date as a single mom?

It's a question that's worth thinking about, right? It's good to have companionship, but rushing to date without being ready can lead to unnecessary heartache. And not just for you!

It's true dating can be a fun and exciting way to make new friends and develop your personal communication skills. But let's not fool ourselves, there's a reason you are a single mom.

Before I move on I'd just like to acknowledge the widows out there, patiently raising their children even while they grieve. Some of this post is not for you.

So before you start salivating over his sexy abs and crooning voice. STOP and take a moment to reflect on the following:

Have you healed from past wounds?
Unresolved trauma can trigger negative reactions to even the simplest words. But sometimes feeling wounded can blind you to harm disguised as "love".

Take a moment to look within to help you understand past behavioral patterns. [Check out Season 7 | Episodes 38, 39, 40] of SoloMoms Talk Podcast to learn more.

Do you know your self-worth?
A strong sense of self-worth, helps you make better choices and recognize red flags. Are you conscious of who you are as a person? Do you know 'whose' you are? Dating should enhance your life, not define it. Are you prepared to model healthy relationships for your children? Because, they learn from your example.

Remember, dating from a place of wholeness brings more personal joy and fullfilment than seeking validation or trying to escape loneliness. Take the time to invest in your personal growth and healing.

When you're truly ready, dating becomes less about filling a void and more about sharing life's pleasures with someone with whom there's mutual respect and who values you.

Your journey as a single mom is uniquely yours. Honor it by ensuring you're in the best emotional place before opening yourself and your heart up to someone else.

In the meantime, seek out community and groups to safely connect with people who can offer emotional support.
