New video alert!🌿 We shot this back when we were working hard at thanks for running down to the 19th floor with me. This is a Dorothy Parker piece that always struck me.
“Once, when I was young and true,
Someone made me sad.
Broke my brittle heart in two,
And that is very bad.
Love is for unlucky folk,
Love is but a curse.
Once there was a heart I broke,
And that, I think,
Is worse.”

A new poetry video! 🌿 “Loss” by Wendy Cope brought to you by me in some fetching pajamas. Breakups can be tough, but this one was definitely worse than most!
“The day he left was terrible,
That evening she went through hell.
His absence wasn’t the problem,
But the corkscrew had gone as well.”

A new poetry video! 🌿”Because I Was So Fond of Him” by Meg Bateman. Recited by actress, activist, and slinger of cocktails, the marvelous Joanna Carpenter.
“He used to come to me when he was drunk,
Because I was so fond of him.
I would make him tea and listen to him
Because I was so fond of him.
He stopped the drink and I was pleased for him
Because I was so fond of him.
Now he comes no more, indeed he despises me,
Because I was so fond of him.”

A new poetry video! 🌿This is “Bodies” recited by my friend and co-worker Georgina Berbari, shot in a Bushwick Park before the lockdown. I love this poem’s comment on body image. Enjoy!

“Sometimes they look bad,
Sometimes they look good,
People invest loads in them:
Time, money silicone.
I like to look at them,
Really look at them.
Soft, hard, squidgy, skinny,
Big people want to be smaller,
Small people want to be bigger,
The only thing we have in common is that: none of us wants our own.”

New video alert!🌿You may know my reader today Phumi from her role as Akers in the hit Netflix Show “Orange is the new Black”. Here she recites a poignant poem by Koleka Putuma called “In the Kitchen.” I think this verse is one that many of us can relate to, especially now.

“Song for my Son” by David Stephens recited by Jeff Still. Jeff is a broadway actor who is currently appearing in (well they are on hiatus but hopefully they’ll be back soon! And you fans know that he’s in it too,so make sure you grab your tickets when they reopen). I love this poem, it was written by my dad about my brother and it never fails to make me cry. I hope you all love it as much as I do 🥰
