is Jerry still there?
If it's the same guy as in the photo below, I knew him in the early 80s when he worked at a small store at 108th and Broadway. He was a friendly guy and all of us kids knew him well, He made the store and gave life and consistency to that corner.
We all thought he was the owner and used to call the place, "Jerry's." When he left, none of us knew why. We thought he had hired help and would soon return. Unfortunately he never did.
I have a high-res scan of the attached photo that I'd love to have printed and given to him.
For those of you who noticed Jerry hasn't been at his stand much, he's been sick and is healing up now and should be back in business today.

What's also great is not only NY 1 News, but NBC news is covering this story. That's huge for a story like this...which is worthy but doesn't often get mainstream coverage.

Jerry met new mayor Bill De Blasio who said of Jerry's Newsstand to Jerry "Great place!" Paraphrasing the rest: after being told of lock out, De Blasio said he 'is aware, there is a great injustice, and then instructed his aids to 'get on it immediately.' (Sorry for paraphrasing we were very tired). Jerry then spoke to aid who took from him the specifics of the case.
