Parents of high school seniors! Do your students need volunteer hours for graduation? VoxPopuli is offering hours on Saturday, Nov. 8 during our AMERICAN STANDARDS benefit concert for press freedom and the First Amendment at OCOM - Orlando College of Osteopathic Medicine.
Volunteers will help with setup, breakdown and other party-related tasks as needed.

OCFL Commissioner Nicole Wilson announced two food giveaways in District 1 on Nov. 8. Tildenville's distribution is at 8 a.m. and there is another distribution at West Orange High School at Noon.

Matthew's Hope, Orange County in Winter Garden also has a food pantry -- although they could use some donations as well, so if you can, please give. They have a list of what they need on their page. Christian Service Center for the Homeless in Ocoee also has the Daily Bread food pantry.

Second Harvest Food Bank of Central Florida — Emergency food boxes, SNAP assistance, and a searchable pantry locator.

Hope Community Center — Weekly grocery distributions and holistic support for immigrant and working families.

United Against Poverty Orlando — Affordable member grocery program, crisis assistance, and workforce development.

Christian Service Center — Free hot meals served regularly to anyone in need in downtown Orlando.

Catholic Charities of Central Florida — Operates multiple food pantries and distribution sites throughout Central Florida.

Good Samaritan Resource Center — Provides food, clothing, and case management for families and individuals in crisis.

Jewish Family Services of Greater Orlando — Offers groceries, hygiene products, and social services assistance.

The Salvation Army Orlando — Emergency food pantry, hot meal service, and utility/rent assistance programs.

Loaves & Fishes Food Pantry (Apopka) — Food boxes available twice monthly for local families in need.

Harvest Time International (Sanford) — Large distribution center providing groceries and household items to families.

The Sharing Center (Longwood) — Groceries, hygiene items, and wraparound support services for families in need.

Here in Winter Garden there is also Matthew's Hope, Orange County, the and Christian Service Center for the Homeless in Ocoee.

With SNAP benefits scheduled to end in days, food pantries are going to be stretched trying to close the gaps. Representative Maxwell Alejandro Frost and Representative Anna V. Eskamani are working with AFGE Local 556 to collect shelf-stable food, diapers, toiletries, pet food, etc. These are not political donations and not tax deductible. These donations go to people affected by the government shutdown. See drop-off locations below.

Windermere residents turned out this afternoon ahead of a private meeting between town council members and town attorneys to demonstrate that they’ve had enough of the town’s three-year lawsuit against the owners of the five boathouses in Palmer Park. One resident told our reporter on the scene said they want the town to end the litigation and pay the boathouse owners’ attorneys fees. About 20 or so residents showed up to hold signs, including Sue Ellen Doty, Bobbie Moore, Trish Denton and a woman who asked not to be identified.

Largely driven by the efforts of Mayor Rusty Johnson, The City of Ocoee continues its reconciliation process with a beautiful memorial to those killed on one of the deadliest days of election violence in our nation. The public is encouraged to join city leaders and the descendants of those who fled the carnage at a ceremony in Unity Park to honor those who lost their lives in 1920.
