Union Square & Co. has acquired North American rights for Peter Grainger’s DC Smith / Kings Lake Investigation series!

AN ACCIDENTAL DEATH, the first DC Smith / Kings Lake Investigation novel, will be published on May 5, 2026 in trade paperback. SOME SORT OF JUSTICE, a brand-new novel that stars the female detective Cara Freeman, will be published June 2026.

Set in the fictional town of Kings Lake in Norfolk, England, the series centers on DC Smith, who The Financial Times called, “the greatest fictional sleuth you’ve probably never heard of.” Grainger, who has self-published sixteen titles in the series, has already sold over a million copies in e-book and audio formats.
