Karl Scarr, a 52-year-old zoologist from the UK, has made a remarkable commitment to animal welfare by dedicating his home in Morocco to caring for 150 abandoned dogs at the Tangier Wildlife Sanctuary (SFT). After witnessing animal abuse during a charity trip in 2007, he moved from Cambridge to Morocco in 2012 to establish one of the first private animal rescue centers in the area.
Scarr treats the dogs with extreme care, constructing spacious kennels and allowing them to sleep with him. His daily routine starts at 4 a.m., where he bottle-feeds puppies, maintains the animal enclosures, and ensures urgent medical needs are met. Over the years, he has cared for more than 1,000 animals, many of whom have found loving homes.
He has written three books on dog care, with all proceeds going towards the sanctuary. Scarr plans to contact Guinness World Records in hopes of setting a record for living with the most dogs. His story highlights his unwavering dedication to providing a loving environment for animals in need.
