China has placed data centers underwater, using the ocean to help cool computer servers.

Normally, data centers produce a huge amount of heat and require large cooling systems that consume significant amounts of electricity, water, and equipment.

By placing servers under the sea, the surrounding seawater helps absorb heat naturally, reducing the need for traditional cooling methods.

The idea is not entirely new. Similar underwater data center projects have been tested before, including Microsoft’s Project Natick, which studied how sealed server units performed in the ocean.

Supporters of the technology believe it could make data centers more energy-efficient, lower cooling costs, and reduce environmental impact.
