I just learned that there's a subreddit for bald Northern Cardinals, and it's named r/blöödchëëp after of my comic about catastrophic cardinal molts. The internet can be so good sometimes

Throwback: We’ve Been Wrong for 30 Years Because of Jurassic Park—Science Says Dinosaurs Never Roared Like That

Which T-Rex roar is correct: the first video, the second video, or the third?

For decades, we’ve been terrified by iconic dinosaur roars, but new science says we’ve been wrong all along. The true sounds of these ancient giants may be far different than what Hollywood gave us.

For over three decades, the image of roaring dinosaurs has been a staple in popular culture, especially thanks to the Jurassic Park films. From the mighty Tyrannosaurus rex to the cunning Velociraptors, the thunderous roars of these ancient creatures have terrified and fascinated us. But, what if we’ve been wrong about what dinosaurs actually sounded like all along?

Capturing this composition whilst freediving was a challenge pushing me to my limits but so worth it. The beauty of freediving is it allows you to enter the underwater world with little disruption to their environment. Hold your breath and remaining calm allows the marine life to become comfortable with you in their environment and like to get up close and personal allowing you to take some incredible shots of them cruising passed. Once I found myself in this position beneath the shark I was having to push my breath hold to the limits before I could escape out of there without disturbing the shark.

Kronosaurus, the terror of the Cretaceous seas!

It was a massive marine reptile stretching over 10 meters long, armed with a jaw full of conical teeth designed to crush and grip. As a pliosaur, it wasn’t a dinosaur, but it ruled the oceans with the same apex confidence. With its powerful flippers, it could launch itself through the water in pursuit of turtles, fish, and even other marine reptiles. Its name, inspired by the Titan Cronus from Greek mythology, is no exaggeration, Kronosaurus was a giant among giants, a living submarine of muscle and teeth.

And that’s just a taste of what’s coming in my next book, where I’ll dive deep into the incredible world of Cretaceous animals—yes, including some truly spectacular marine reptiles. Stay tuned! 📖

"The Brazilian T. Rex"

100 m sprint: detail of a juvenile - legitimately thought to be one of the fastest of all predatory - chasing down Ornithomimus. T. rex leg muscle configurations suggest that they were ambushers, not marathon runners, so outrunning them was one means of escape.
