In a monthly column called "Sunday Supper: Now and Then," former "Sunday Supper" host John Platt writes about a new folk release he likes — and reflects on a past "Sunday Supper" session. For August, John focuses on New Jersey's Maidin, who plays Folkus-NYC at Williamsburg’s Art Haus on September 17. And a look back at Jimmy Webb's 2007 "Sunday Supper" conversation ahead of his 80th birthday on 8/15. Webb willl be at City Winery on 11/1 and My Father's Place in Roslyn, New York, on 11/21.

Chicago's Friko have a new, second album, 'Something Worth Waiting For,' out now on ATO Records. Produced by John Congleton, Friko's high-octane songs this round reflect these road warriors' traveling 'n' touring mindset in metaphor and otherwise. In a new FUV Live session, hosted by Sam Sumpter, Friko played a trio of songs from the new album, including "Seven Degrees," and frontman Niko Kapetan breaks down songwriting in transit.

And Wisconsin's Trapper Schoepp offers "Last Dublin Song," a heartfelt salute to the late Glen Hansard.
