Good friends Craig Finn and Kathleen Edwards visited Eric Holland not so long ago for music and conversation. Finn's latest solo album is 'Always Been' and Edwards releases her new one, 'Billionaire,' on 8/22 (it was produced by Jason Isbell). Listen back to their studio hangout at WFUV.org — and Finn plays Staten Island's Hamilton Park House on 8/3 and Edwards returns to Bowery Ballroom on 9/16. Whether you loved Black Sabbath or MTV's "The Osbournes," Ozzy Osbourne was a thunderous force of nature — and has passed away at age 76 just three weeks after Black Sabbath's final homecoming concert in Birmingham. A very rock 'n' roll way to depart. FUV's Eric Holland — who named his beloved cat Black Sabbath — will speak to Ozzy's passing and play a couple of songs in the House of Wax tonight, after 8pm.

"'Cause rock and roll is my religion and my law
Won't ever change, may think it's strange
You can't kill rock and roll, it's here to stay."
- Ozzy Osbourne, 1948-2025

If you're heading to the Newport Folk Festival this weekend, don't miss Mon Rovîa. The Liberian-American singer and songwriter, who calls Chattanooga home, brings self-discovery and healing to his gentle, incisive music, notably in his most recent EP, "Act 4: Atonement" on Nettwerk Music Group , the conclusion of a four-chapter arc. In a new FUV Live session, hosted by Kara Manning, Mon Rovîa and his bandmates play a set that includes "crooked the road" and a new track too, "Heavy Foot."

He speaks eloquently about his experience as a child refugee — and what that journey has meant in his life. Mon Rovîa also returns to New York to play Irving Plaza on 11/18. Watch/listen to the session at WFUV.org or via the "FUV Live Sessions" podcast via Spotify, Apple Podcasts, or Amazon Podcasts. More:

If you missed Nick Caloway's report earlier this evening on CBS News New York, you can watch it here. Huge thanks to Nick for illuminating just what these federal funding cuts mean to public radio stations like FUV, as explained by midday host Alisa Ali, student news manager Lainey Nguyen and general manager Chuck Singleton.

All of us at WFUV are grateful to CBS New York reporter Nick Caloway who came to the station today to interview midday host Alisa Ali, program director Rich McLaughlin, general manager Chuck Singleton and student news manager Lainey Nyugen about the severity of the federal funding cuts to public radio stations like FUV. You can see Nick’s report on CBS New York news (which has a lot of Fordham alums, including Dick Brennan and Alice Gainer) at 5 or 6pm tonight, 7/21, and on their website and streaming services. You can contribute now to FUV at supportwfuv.org.

It's that time of year for sitting around the campfire, roasting marshmallows and singing songs. What songs go well with the sound of crickets and the smell of burning logs? Let us know and Corny will spin a set of campfire songs after 9 a.m. for the Question of the Day.
