In a new FUV Live session, singer and songwriter Bebe Stockwell tells host Alisa Ali just why she looks back to older music for that "cozy" feeling — a warmth in vocals and overall production that she feels has been lost with newer techniques in the recording studio. Bebe's new EP, 'Driving Backwards,' is out now and you can check out her interview and performances now at WFUV.org or via "FUV Live Sessions" at Spotify, Apple Podcasts, and Amazon Podcasts.

As one quarter of Fantastic Cat Band, Brian Dunne has become a friend of FUV over the last few years via that band — and it was a blast to discover Dunne on his own solo merits when he returned to The Bitter End in August for an ecstatic set for Marquee Members. The singer, songwriter and guitarist took that intimate concert opportunity to celebrate the release of his terrific fourth album, 'Clams Casino,' and rocketed through a melodic and muscular eight-song set, including the yearning, rocking title track. Watch three videos from that set now at WFUV.org and see Brian play Park Theatre in Hudson, NY on 10/25.

Yesterday's news of the passing of D'Angelo at the age of 51 from cancer was unexpected — and tragic. Although he only released three albums — 1995's 'Brown Sugar,' 2000's 'Voodoo,' and 2014's 'Black Messiah' with The Vanguard, the Grammy-winning neo-soul innovator ushered in a charismatic, sensuous era of R&B, jazz, and hip hop artistry, rushing through our consciousness like a cool river.

Of the many musicians who have offered their memories of D'Angelo, Lauryn Hill, who shared a duet with D'Angelo on "Nothing Even Matters" from her groundbreaking 'The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill' poignantly wrote: "You imaged a unity of strength and sensitivity in Black manhood to a generation that only saw itself as having to be one or the other.”

Delphine Blue will pay tribute to D'Angelo on Friday's "The Whole Wide World," 6-9pm on 90.7FM, streaming at WFUV.org.

You've heard of Rocktober, but what about Archtober? It's a month-long festival of New York City's architecture with lectures, films and architecture-themed boat tours. Plus, this weekend is Open House New York, a citywide festival inviting you to explore Gotham's infrastructure, rooftop gardens, historic houses and more. Let's get in on the action with songs about buildings and architecture. We'll construct a set after 9 a.m. on the Question of the Day.

Bebe Stockwell is only in her early 20s, but she's an old soul as a songwriter. Stockwell's debut EP, Driving Backwards, is evidence of this gifted Boston-born, Los Angeles-based singer and songwriter's reverence for her forebears, like Bob Dylan, and her eye to the future. In a new FUV Live session, hosted by Alisa Ali, Bebe and guitarist Natalie Moosher played a three-song set drawn from that EP, including "Want Me." Watch/listen now at WFUV.org or via the "FUV Live Sessions" podcast on Spotify, Apple Podcasts and Amazon Podcasts. Bebe is currently on a North American tour supporting Jeremy Zucker. More:
