Every year during college entrance exam season, my retaking sister would have a depressive episode.
Just because on the exam day that year, she missed her exam time to save me.
This year, she had another episode and forced me to use the bonus I had just received to buy her a bag.
When I refused, she immediately started crying loudly, saying I had ruined her life.
“If it weren’t for you, I would have graduated from a prestigious university by now. Buying a bag would be nothing!”
My parents also scolded me for being ungrateful.
But for a long time, I had always been suspicious about the incident that year.
After being reborn, I returned to the night before my sister’s college entrance exam.
This time, I would definitely get my sister to the exam room safely!
1.
I was reborn the day before my sister’s college entrance exam.
A wave of dizziness hit me. When I opened my eyes, Luna was shaking my arm.
“Sister, can you take me to the exam tomorrow~ Last time, you pushed beyond your limits and got into a second-tier university. If not for that, you wouldn’t have gotten into any university~ I have to borrow your exam luck, right? You’re free anyway. Take me, okay~”
Mom pinched Luna’s nose affectionately: “It’s a shame Mom and Dad have an important meeting early tomorrow. After your exam, Mom will pick you up and take you for good food.”
After saying that, Mom turned to me. When she saw me in baggy pajamas sitting in front of the computer — the standard image of an unemployed freeloader — her expression immediately changed. Her eyelids drooped into a cold curve:
“I’m not saying this to scold you, but even if you don’t go out, you should at least tidy yourself up. You wear pajamas all day. You look so lazy.
After all, your father and I were excellent students. How did we give birth to someone as unmotivated as you? You studied extra classes non-stop when you were young, but when it came to the college entrance exam, you only got into a lousy second-tier school. Unlike your sister, who has never needed us to worry since she was little…”
I silently recited those words. They were exactly the same as what Mom said.
Because in my previous life, she had said these words… countless times.
The only difference was that now, hearing these words, I no longer felt heartbroken or sad. I just felt numb.
According to Mom, from kindergarten, I was inferior to other children. In first grade, because I couldn’t distinguish vowels, Mom angrily tore up my homework. The next day, I submitted a notebook taped back together with clear tape.
Not long after, Mom got pregnant again.
She said teaching me would make her angry and she didn’t want it to affect the baby in her belly.
Just so happened, Uncle and Aunt didn’t have children, so they took me in to raise.
Later, Uncle and Aunt had a child in their later years. Aunt needed bed rest and couldn’t take care of me. In the end, Mom remembered she still had a daughter and I was brought back home.
But I was always used as a reference for Luna. The purpose was to show off how smart and clever their youngest daughter was.
Luna was sweet-talking and clever, so she was loved by relatives and friends. I took her as a role model and learned how to interact with others from her.
But in front of adults, my childish wishes were seen through immediately. In return, I only got ridicule from my parents and Luna.
The illusion of love was my tragedy in my previous life.
After much difficulty being reborn, I decided not to let the people who hurt me stay in my life and submit to them anymore.
“Tomorrow I can’t take you. I have an important interview.” I casually made up an excuse, unwilling to take Luna to the exam.
Just because in my previous life, on the way to the exam, I suddenly had a respiratory allergic reaction and fainted on the road. Luna took me to the hospital for emergency treatment. Because of that, she missed the college entrance exam.
Although she chose to retake a year, Luna used the excuse of having psychological trauma from missing the exam and developed exam phobia and depression. Her grades plummeted, completely losing the chance to enter the prestigious university she had always dreamed of.
After that, every college entrance exam season, she would have a depressive episode.
When I used the bonus I had just received to treat the whole family, she said bitterly: “If I had gotten into a good university, today I could be filial to Mom and Dad more than you…”
When I bought myself a windbreaker I had liked for a long time on my birthday, she also said bitterly: “If I had gotten into a good university, I could buy whatever clothes I wanted…”
When I bought a laptop for work, she said even more bitterly: “If I had gotten into a good university, at least I would be a senior office worker…”
And then, I had to hand over everything I had worked so hard to get to Luna under the name of compensation.
If I refused, the whole family would accuse me of deliberately ruining Luna’s life out of jealousy.
But in reality, I had always been suspicious about the day I took her to the exam.
After I was taken to the hospital, the medical staff knew Luna was an examinee and repeatedly offered to take her to the exam.
But she stubbornly refused to leave. She lay on top of me crying almost to the point of fainting, as if I had already died.
When asked for her parents’ contact information, she also panicked. In the end, she stubbornly missed the morning exam.
And that strange cause of the allergic reaction…
With my experience from my previous life, I felt that even Luna’s smallest expressions had their own intentions.
Did she really sacrifice her future to save me, or had she set a trap from the beginning?

07/12/2026

Unfortunately, I transmigrated right into a melodramatic novel, becoming the real daughter of a wealthy family but despised by my entire blood-related family. My newlywed husband strangled me and forced me to donate blood to his adopted sister.
For someone else, this would probably make them cry their eyes out, but unfortunately for this extremely toxic family, in my original world I was the daughter of a martial arts master and proficient in 18 different martial arts!
Strangle me? One slap across the male lead’s face!
Force me to donate a kidney? Slap the whole family until their faces are swollen and force the three older brothers onto the operating table instead!
Refusing the tragic, heart-wrenching script, I’m busy hugging my money and leaving.
1.
In the bridal chamber, Ethan gripped my neck tightly and roared: “Why did you push her? Come with me to donate blood right now! That’s the debt you owe her.”
I couldn’t hold back anymore. I immediately counterattacked, delivering a heaven-shaking slap followed by a hook punch and elbow strike:
“What debt do I owe your family? Are you stupid? Your brain is full of blind love. You should just go cremate yourself to clear the debt. She clearly faked falling down the stairs and dared to frame me. She can get lost, and you can get lost too. Best if you both disappear from my life!”
I had transmigrated.
I crossed into a melodramatic romance novel with the real daughter vs. fake daughter trope that I had just finished reading.
I was the real biological daughter who had just been found, but my parents and three older brothers all stood on the fake daughter’s side.
They said my appearance had stolen the life that originally belonged to her. They told me to fulfill my duty. They wouldn’t mistreat me, but I shouldn’t expect too much.
The female lead also had a devoted childhood friend and male lead.
In the original story, I always thought he was my childhood hero. The moment I saw him, I was convinced he was the one who had saved me when I was little.
I loved him madly and used donating a kidney to the fake daughter as a condition to force him to marry me.
But he held the domineering CEO script, did all kinds of evil deeds without consequences, and tormented me both physically and mentally: gouging out my eyes, digging out my heart, liver, and kidneys to transplant into the fake daughter, forcing me to have abortions, miscarriages, fall off cliffs, fall into the sea, encounter fires…
Yet I still hadn’t died. Not only had I not died, I had been missing for five years due to cancer, then returned and declared I would take back everything that belonged to me.
In reality, that was just a stepping stone to pave the way for the reunion after many years of separation and the old cliché story of “the genius young son is the child of the two of them.”
I wasn’t okay. I really wasn’t okay.
Fortunately, I had just transmigrated at the exact moment the male lead was forced to fulfill the marriage agreement with me. Otherwise, I would definitely have to “recycle” that unfilial child.
Before transmigrating, I was the daughter of a martial arts master.
My father is 58 years old this year and had taught me 18 different martial arts styles. I was proficient with knives, spears, staffs, and more.
My father always thought I was a strong, tough girl, but deep down, I was a cute, delicate girl who liked to act spoiled.
The secret I couldn’t tell anyone was that I hid under the blanket reading romance novels on my phone. If my father found out, I would definitely be forced to hold horse stance for eight hours.
Sure enough, one shouldn’t rebel too much.
See? Retribution came. I transmigrated into the female lead of a tragic romance novel.
Why does the female lead in a tragic romance get abused?
Because she loves a male lead who doesn’t love her, and the male lead loves the vicious female side character.
Under the female side character’s framing and harm, the female lead can’t clear her name even with a hundred mouths.
Isn’t that right? Right in my wedding with the male lead Ethan, the vicious female side character Tina faked a scene to congratulate me, then deliberately fell down the stairs and screamed:
“Sister, why did you push me?” F**k, what a green tea bitch who scripts her own drama. If you’re so good at acting, why don’t you enter the entertainment industry? The more I think about it, the angrier I get.
After knocking Ethan down, I slapped him several times in a row without giving him a chance to fight back.
He was still arrogant just now, but now I beat him until he was dizzy. His mouth hung open in disbelief as he cried and screamed:
“Tina, have you gone crazy?”
“I don’t want to waste words.” — Slap!
“You dare hit me?”
“Hit you again!” — Slap!
“Another slap!” — Slap!
I grabbed his tie, slammed his head onto the pillow one after another, and asked while hitting:
“Do you submit? Do you submit yet? Look carefully. I’m the one who can control you. Stop dreaming about romance with me. I’m your grandpa!”
Ethan was pinned down and beaten by me until his face was swollen. Tears and snot covered his face.
Joking? Beating people is my family’s hereditary skill, passed down three generations. I’m a professional.
He cried and stammered: “You… you’re so fierce. You were pretending all along, weren’t you?”
I crossed my arms and sneered: “Scared yet? If you’re so capable, call the police. Yeah, don’t think I don’t know. In these domineering CEO stories, the police don’t exist. The male lead can do all kinds of evil deeds without consequences, so I can too. We’re all main characters. Why should the female lead yield to the male lead?”
I never expected Ethan to play dirty and actually call the police. And even more unexpectedly, the police really came.
I immediately woke up. In stories like this, the police can’t catch the male lead but they can catch the female lead.
I only slapped him a few times. I didn’t kill the “white moonlight” or do anything excessive, yet he dared to call the police to arrest me.

07/12/2026

While helping my father pay the electricity bill, I discovered he had two families.
That day, my mother told me to log into my father’s electricity app, saying it was time to pay the bill. I entered the password and froze.
There were two customer codes.
The first address was my home: Apartment 7, Unit 2, Cuihu Jiayuan Residential Complex, Su City District.
The second address I had never seen: Apartment 1801, Building 3, Jinlan Mansion, Xinjiang District.
In the notes section, there were two words:
“Home.”
I stared at the screen for ten seconds.
My home was “Cuihu Jiayuan.”
So what was this other “Home” — whose home was it?
I didn’t tell my mother. I took a screenshot and exited the app.
Then I opened the map and searched for that address.
Jinlan Mansion. Average price 65,000 yuan per square meter.
That day after work, I didn’t go home. I took a taxi to Xinjiang District.
Jinlan Mansion was a high-end residential complex.
There was a fountain at the entrance and a crystal chandelier in the lobby.
Compared to our old 2003-built residential complex, this place was several levels more luxurious.
I stood at the gate for ten minutes. A delivery person came out, and I slipped in behind him. The elevator stopped at the 18th floor. Apartment 1801.
Outside the door were two pairs of slippers. One pair for men, brown leather, size 42. Exactly my father’s shoe size.
One pair for women, pink with a bow. My mother had never worn pink.
I stood in front of the door. My heart beat very fast.
I didn’t knock. I bent down and looked through the crack under the door.
The doormat was new, with the words “HOME SWEET HOME” printed on it.
My mother didn’t even know half an English letter.
I took out my phone and snapped a photo.
Then I went downstairs, found a bench in the complex garden, and sat down.
6:30 PM. If someone lived here, they should be back soon. I waited another forty minutes.
7:10 PM, a woman led a teenage boy into the residential complex.
The woman was in her forties, with big wavy curls, wearing a beige coat, carrying shopping bags from a mall.
The boy looked about eighteen or nineteen, carrying a schoolbag. They swiped their card to enter the building.
I counted the floors. The elevator stopped at the 18th floor.
Three minutes later, two more windows in apartment 1801 lit up. Warm yellow light. It looked very cozy.
I sat downstairs looking at that window. My phone rang. It was my father.
“Tian Tian, Dad has to entertain clients tonight. I won’t be home for dinner.”
I looked at the 18th-floor light.
“Okay.”
I hung up.
Twenty minutes later, a black Audi A6 drove into the complex.
License plate Su A·K7792. My father’s car.
He stepped out, holding a box of cake. From Holiland. He walked into the lobby.
Elevator. Another light in apartment 1801 turned on.
I sat on the bench. The wind was very cold.
The “client entertainment” my father mentioned was on the 18th floor.
I suddenly remembered something. Last month on my mother’s birthday, my father said he had a meeting and didn’t come home until 10 PM. No cake.
He said: “You’re fifty years old. What birthday? You’re not a child anymore.”
I pulled out my phone and accessed my father’s bank transaction history.
I knew his ID number. The password was his birthday. Logged in. Scrolled down.
Every 15th of the month, there was a fixed transfer: 15,000 yuan.
Recipient: Gu Ming Zhou.
Notes: Living expenses.
I scrolled back.
January: 15,000. December: 15,000. November: 15,000.
I kept scrolling. Scrolled until my fingers went numb.
This transfer started in 2005. Every month. Not a single month missed.

I was 6 years old.

I calculated. 20 years. 15,000 times 12, times 20. 3.6 million yuan.
This was only the fixed monthly transfer.
My hand trembled. Not from the cold.
I closed the app and stood up to look at the 18th-floor window one last time. Warm yellow light. A family of three.
I turned and left. On the way home, my mother sent a WeChat message:
“Tian Tian, Mom saved dinner for you. Braised pork ribs with corn.
Come home quickly. It won’t taste good when it gets cold.”
I stared at that message for a long time. Then typed three characters:
“Okay, I’m coming home now.”
2
When I got home, my mother was washing dishes in the kitchen.
Her apron was old, with a hole that had been stitched with crooked stitches.
The braised pork ribs with corn were on the table, covered with another plate to keep warm.
“Why are you home so late?” Mom wiped her hands and came out.
“Work overtime at the company.”
I sat down to eat.
The ribs were very tender, the corn sweet — exactly the kind I liked.
As I ate, my nose stung.
“What’s wrong?” Mom looked at me.
“Nothing. The ribs are really good, Mom.”
Mom smiled: “If it’s good, eat more. There’s still some in the pot.”
Mom went back to the kitchen. I heard the sound of running water.
Mom’s hands were soaked in water year-round from washing clothes and dishes. In winter they always cracked and she had to tape them.
Mom wasn’t like this when she was young. I had seen her old photos.
At twenty-five, Mom worked at a bank, wearing a white shirt, short hair to her ears, smiling beautifully.
At that time, Mom was the best teller in the branch.
Then Mom got pregnant with me. Dad said:
“Stay home and take care of the child. I’ll support both of you.” Mom quit her job.
Mom was twenty-eight that year. When she resigned, the manager said:
“Xiao Ye, have you thought it through? You’re doing so well. It’s a waste to quit.”
Mom said: “The child is the most important.”
Mom had no idea that after she quit, her position was taken by a woman named Gu Ming Zhou.
I only learned this recently.
The year Mom quit, Dad’s construction materials company had just started.
Where did the capital come from? Mom’s dowry. 300,000 yuan.
300,000 yuan in 2004. That was the life savings of my maternal grandparents.
Mom said: “Yu Hang, take it and use it.
Once the company grows, you can pay me back.” Dad said:
“Don’t worry. I won’t let you suffer.”
The company grew. From 300,000 to tens of millions.
And Mom? Mom stayed home to take care of the child.
After taking care of the child, she cooked. After cooking, she washed clothes.
After washing clothes, she cleaned the house. For twenty years.
365 days a year. No days off, no holidays, no year-end bonus.
After I went to college, Mom had a little more free time.
Mom told Dad she wanted to buy a down jacket.
The old one had been worn for eight years. The collar was completely frayed.
Dad said: “Household expenses are high right now. Save a little.”
Mom said: “Okay.” And she wore it for another year.
In my first year of work, I used my salary to buy Mom a Bosideng down jacket.
Mom was happy for a whole week. She tried it on five times, folding it neatly and putting it away each time, saying:
“It’s too beautiful. I can’t bear to wear it.”
Now I sat at the dining table, thinking about that down jacket.
Then thinking about the woman at Jinlan Mansion.
Beige coat. Designer bags. Big wavy curls.
My father bought them for her.
My mother wore an eight-year-old coat.
My father gave her 15,000 yuan in “living expenses” every month.
I closed my eyes. After eating, I went back to my room, locked the door, and opened my computer.
I am a certified auditor.
Checking accounts is my job.
I logged into my father’s company bank account.
He had never changed the password.
I started checking. If I hadn’t checked, I wouldn’t have known. Besides the fixed 15,000 yuan, there were other transfers:
2008: 500,000 transferred. Notes: House purchase.
2012: 300,000 transferred. Notes: Interior decoration.
2015: 220,000 transferred. Notes: Car.
2018: 80,000 transferred. Notes: Tuition.
2019: 80,000. Tuition.
… And so on until 2023.
Tuition 80,000 yuan a year for six consecutive years.
What school costs 80,000 a year? An international school.
I checked the tuition for international schools in Su City.
Xinjiang Foreign Language International Department: 78,000 yuan per year.
I remembered something else.
In my 12th-grade year, I wanted to register for one-on-one tutoring. 3,000 yuan a month.
Mom discussed it with Dad. Dad said: “You’re only supplementing in 12th grade? Why didn’t you study earlier? It’s a waste of money.”
I didn’t get to take the class. In the end, I only got into an ordinary university.
Dad complained that 3,000 yuan for tutoring was expensive.
But 80,000 yuan a year for someone else’s child’s international school — Dad didn’t even blink.
I took a deep breath and continued checking.
That night, I extracted the entire transaction history from the past ten years.
I marked each entry. Marked until three in the morning.
I calculated a number. 20 years. Money transferred to Gu Ming Zhou, plus house purchase, decoration, car, tuition.
Total: 11.82 million yuan.
Including cash and other expenses I hadn’t found yet, a conservative estimate was 12 million yuan.
I stared at that number. 12 million yuan.
Mom’s dowry was 300,000. Dad used that 300,000 to start his business.
Then used 12 million to support another woman. Another family.
I turned off the computer and lay on the bed.

07/12/2026

My sister’s room was big and spacious, while I slept on the balcony for twenty years.
But I didn’t resent it. Instead, I gave each family member a red envelope with 5,000 yuan (~$700) for New Year.
When my aunt came to visit and saw it, she couldn’t stand it anymore and said:
“Yun is already so grown up. Why do you still make her sleep on the balcony? Isn’t there still an empty room?”
My mother glanced at me with resentment.
“When her father cheated and divorced me back then, for so many years he didn’t give a single cent for child support.”
“Uncle Li has no blood relation to her. Not kicking her out to sleep on the streets is already a great kindness to her. What right does she have to stay in a guest room?”
I didn’t say a word, just silently calculated in my heart how much longer until I could pay off the debt in my mother’s notebook.
Until my biological father came looking for me.
“Bullsh*t! 3,500 yuan (~$490) in monthly child support — I never missed a single month!”
“The house you’re living in now is my pre-marital property!”
“Oh right, the property deed is in your name. Didn’t your mother ever tell you that?”
1
After my mother said that, my aunt didn’t feel comfortable getting involved in our family matters anymore. She only gave me a pitying look.
My mother glared at me.
“Can’t you see everyone has almost finished eating? Hurry up and wash the fruit!”
Before New Year, I got into a minor car accident. My leg was injured and it was inconvenient to walk.
But that didn’t stop my mother from ordering me around.
On the contrary, my sister, who was perfectly healthy, curled up on the sofa watching TV after every meal.
My aunt stood up to help me.
My mother quickly pulled her back down.
“Let her do it. Why is she so delicate!”
I hobbled on crutches to the kitchen. When I brought the fruit out, my mother was scrolling through my phone.
Her expression was very ugly.
“Didn’t your year-end bonus come to 20,000 yuan? Why did you only give each of us 5,000? What are you planning to do with the remaining 5,000 — keep it for yourself?”
“Have you forgotten how poor we were when you were little? Uncle Liu even borrowed money to pay your tuition. If he had hidden things like you, would you be where you are today?”
“In the end, without Uncle Liu, you wouldn’t even have this year-end bonus!”
I took a deep breath, suppressing the indescribable grievance in my heart, and patiently explained:
“I was planning to buy a new phone. This one is from my freshman year of college. It’s too laggy.”
My mother snorted coldly, gritting her teeth:
“What kind of phone costs 5,000? You’re always demanding this and that. When will you ever finish repaying your debt to Uncle Liu?”
I really couldn’t hold back anymore. I slammed my crutch hard on the ground.
“I know. I know I owe Uncle Liu a lot. I will repay it. I’ve always been repaying it.”
“Mom, you force people too much. Do you only feel satisfied when you force your daughter to death?”
My mother was first stunned, then recovered and jabbed her finger hard into my forehead.
She started rambling again about how my father was a scumbag and how she had suffered so much all these years raising me.
My aunt found an excuse and left.
I didn’t want to deal with her either. I just silently pulled out the debt notebook and wrote 15,600 in the income column.
The amount I owed Uncle Li decreased a little more.
It had always been like this since I was little. Clearly Uncle Li only gave me a bite of food, but through my mother’s mouth it became a great kindness.
When I went to college, I couldn’t stand it anymore and cut off contact with them.
My mother brought out the so-called “debt notebook” to force me to repay.
When I refused, she went to my school and caused a scene, nearly getting me expelled.
To live in peace, no matter how inflated this bill was, I accepted it.
Another reason was that in my memory, my mother had never worked.
It could indeed be said that I grew up thanks to Uncle Li raising me.
My mother suddenly snatched the notebook from my hand.
“I forgot to tell you, this 800,000 was calculated according to the old cost of living. That’s not fair to Uncle Li.”
“I won’t ask you for too much. Just triple it.”
“So now you still owe… 1.9 million!”
I was so angry I trembled. I raised my head and pointed randomly at one entry in the notebook.
“5,000 for new clothes every year?”
“From childhood to adulthood, every outfit I wore was hand-me-downs from my sisters. Have you ever bought me a single new set?”
“Mom made a fake notebook. I never argued with you about it, but don’t push your luck.”
“Otherwise, don’t even think about getting a single cent from me!”
After saying those harsh words, I hobbled on my crutches to leave.
My mother was furious and screamed at me:
“Just try it!”
“Now I can’t go to your school and cause a scene, so I’ll go to your company!”
“I’ll let your colleagues and leaders see what an ungrateful wretch you are.”
“See if any company will dare hire you in the future!”
My chest throbbed with pain.
But I was no longer the easily bullied student I used to be.
Moreover, the 500,000 I had already given them far exceeded the actual amount they had spent on me.
I no longer owed them anything.
If they really wanted to cause a scene, I would fight to the end.
I ignored her, slammed the door, and left.
Who knew I was so unlucky today? As soon as I left the residential complex, I saw the person I hated most in my life.
If it weren’t for him not being able to control his lower body back then, I wouldn’t have had to live off others for so many years.
I turned to leave, but he grabbed my wrist tightly and forcefully stuffed a bank card into my pocket.
“No matter how much you don’t want to see Dad, I must personally give you this.”
“This is the dowry money Dad saved for you all these years. Total 300,000. The password is your birthday.”
2
I didn’t hesitate to throw the bank card in his face. The suppressed emotions exploded, making my voice tremble.
“Dowry? 300,000? Are you trying to fool a child?”
“A person who didn’t give a single cent for child support from childhood to adulthood, and now wants to prepare a dowry for me?”
“You see I’ve grown up and can earn money now, so you want to mooch some off me, right?”
“I know exactly what you’re calculating. Get lost!”
I hated this world to the bone. Everyone wanted to force me to death!
The suppressed emotions exploded in this moment. Tears flowed uncontrollably.
My father clearly heard what I said and showed an incredulous expression.
“Yun, do you have some misunderstanding about Dad?”
I wanted to, like every time before, shake off his hand and ignore everything to run away.
But now I couldn’t even do something so simple.
I was forced to stand there, gripping my crutch so tightly my veins bulged.
My father continued explaining himself:
“Yun, I know you’re angry with Dad, but you can’t just say things like that.”
“From the time Dad divorced until you graduated from college, I never missed a single month of child support.”
“Moreover, it started at 500 yuan initially, and I proactively increased it to 3,500 later. I also paid separately for tuition and other fees.”
“To put it harshly, 3,500 yuan was enough for the whole family to live basically.”
“To make sure you weren’t disadvantaged, I never said a word about not paying.”
I frowned tightly and muttered:
“But in high school I only had 200 yuan a month for living expenses. In college I had to work while studying…”
“Every time I asked Mom for tuition, she always acted like it was so difficult, saying in front of Uncle Li she couldn’t ask.”
“If you really transferred child support every month, then my mother…”
A thought flashed in my mind. I didn’t dare continue.
My father was so angry his face turned red. He panted and said:
“Did your mother always tell you this since you were little? No wonder you never wanted to see Dad.”
“She treated Dad like that, fine. But you’re her own daughter!”
Afraid I wouldn’t believe him, my father hurriedly showed me the transfer history.
Looking at the records line by line, my heart turned ice cold.
And my father’s next words almost made me unable to stand.
“Oh right, the house you’re living in is Dad’s pre-marital property. During the divorce, Dad was afraid you would be bullied, so he transferred it to you.”
“If you don’t believe me, go home and check the property deed!”
I held onto the potted plant beside me and suddenly looked up.
“What did you say?”
“So… in my own house, I slept on the balcony for over twenty years?”
3
I didn’t completely believe my father’s one-sided words. Some things I had to see with my own eyes.
When I returned home, Uncle Li had gone to someone else’s house to play, and my sister had gone out on a date.
My mother was carrying a bag, preparing to go meet her friends.
Seeing me return, she sneered:
“Oh, you’re back so soon? I thought someone had a lot of backbone!”
“Originally, if you had spoken properly, I could have asked Uncle Li for you and let you repay just 2 million.”
“But now, even if you come back begging me, it’s too late.”
I wasn’t in the mood to deal with her.
As soon as I left the house, I rushed into their bedroom and took the property deed from the bedside drawer.
I nervously opened the deed.
In the owner section, it clearly said my name — Jiang Yun.
Even if the transfer records could be faked, my father couldn’t have the ability to plant a fake property deed here in advance.
I began recalling the past twenty-plus years. I felt like a fool.
The more I remembered, the higher the anger in my heart burned!
I sat on the sofa for a long time.
Until my mother and Uncle Li pushed the door open and walked in. Only then did I snap back to reality.
Uncle Li had drunk a little outside. As soon as he entered, he started scolding me.
“I heard you made your mother lose face in front of your aunt today. You even threatened her by saying you won’t repay anymore?”
Then Uncle Li lowered his head and operated his phone. A somewhat sinister smile appeared on his face.
“You really need a beating.”
The phone rang several times.
I quickly received a message from Uncle Li in the family group chat:
【Everyone come to my house for New Year tomorrow. By the way, help me and my wife get justice.】
【Jiang Yun, this ungrateful girl doesn’t know how to be grateful. Just because her mother asked about her year-end bonus, she got angry at home, slammed the table, and even cursed us to death!】
【Her mother only thought she was spending money too recklessly and wanted to help manage it for her. This kind of ungrateful child — we really don’t know how to discipline her anymore.】
For many years, Uncle Li and my mother had badmouthed me to outsiders.
So besides my aunt who often visited, everyone else thought I was an ungrateful wretch and that sleeping on the balcony was what I deserved.
As soon as that message was sent, relatives began “speaking up for justice”:
【Jiang Yun, a person must have a conscience. We all see how well Uncle Li treated you.】
Uncle Li looked at me smugly.
“If you’ve thought it through, hurry up and apologize. Tomorrow I can consider telling everyone it was all a misunderstanding.”
I didn’t say a word and returned to the balcony.
At the same time, I silently put away the property deed I had originally planned to throw in their faces.
The dirt they had thrown on me for so many years — I wouldn’t just wash it clean. I would return it tenfold!
Just wait and see who will be the one put on trial tomorrow!
