AI isn’t one race. It’s two.
One superpower is building the smartest software on Earth.
The other is putting AI to work in the real world, faster than anyone.

I break both down in this video.

Every time you ask AI a question, data centers somewhere in the world use water and electricity to generate your answer. In this episode, I explain why that matters, what experts are saying, and why this conversation is becoming increasingly important. Follow for more breakdowns.

Foreign aid isn't just about money.
It's also about influence.
Here's what's happening across Africa.

In this episode of Let's Break This Down with Marian, I explore how China and Russia are expanding their presence across parts of Africa as U.S. development funding declines-and what that could mean for the continent's future.

For a deeper dive, I've written extensively about this, read my full article in the Journal of Political Inquiry (JPI) here.

Excited to share the first episode of a project l've been working on: Let's Break This Down with Marian.
Inspired by my passion for global journalism and international affairs, this project is dedicated to breaking down complex global issues and explaining why they matter.

In this first video, I take a closer look at the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), the challenges they face, and whether the world is still on track to achieve them by 2030.
Watch, share your thoughts, and join the conversation by following .

I’m excited to share that I am currently participating in the 2026 National Association of Black Journalists (NABJ) Student Multimedia Project.

Through this experience, I’m currently working alongside professional journalists, mentors, and fellow student reporters to produce multimedia stories across digital, broadcast, and print platforms for NABJ TV, Monitor and digitals.

As a journalism graduate student and a former television reporter and presenter this opportunity marks an important milestone in my journalism journey and continues to strengthen my passion for storytelling and public service journalism.

I’m also looking forward to joining journalists from across the country at the 2026 NABJ Convention and Career Fair in Atlanta, where I’ll have the opportunity to learn, connect, and grow alongside some of the best in the industry.

Grateful to NABJ for the experience and excited for what’s ahead.

I’m grateful to be participating in the 2026 NABJ Student Multimedia Project as part of the National Association of Black Journalists Convention and Career Fair in Atlanta.

Through this experience, I’m working alongside professional journalists and fellow student reporters to produce multimedia stories for NABJ platforms while learning from some of the best in the industry.

As a journalism graduate student at NYU and a former television reporter, opportunities like this continue to expand my understanding of multimedia storytelling, collaboration, and newsroom innovation.

Thank you to NABJ for this opportunity. I’m looking forward to continuing the work, building new connections, and learning from the incredible community of journalists involved in this project.

Seeing my name in print never gets old.

Excited to see my work featured in the 2025–2026 issue of the Journal of Political Inquiry (JPI) at NYU.

I had the opportunity to contribute an article, “How Powers Fight to Influence Africa,” examining how global powers like China and Russia are expanding their influence across Africa as U.S. funding retreats — and what African leaders should consider to avoid new forms of dependency and geopolitical leverage.

Grateful to be part of such a thoughtful and talented team of writers, editors, and researchers. Looking forward to continuing this work and contributing to more conversations on global affairs, policy, and international relations.

Special thanks to the JPI editorial team for the collaboration and support.
