"The Acolyte" Cinematographer Chris Teague explores his cinematography from the show, focusing on lighting and color management. He discusses the technical challenges of filming fight sequences using motion capture technology and integrating natural elements like snow and fog.

Chris Teague is an award-winning TV and film cinematographer. Most recently, Chris worked as the lead cinematographer for "The Acolyte," a new Star Wars series on Disney+, and as a cinematographer and director on FX’s limited series "Dying For S*x."

He is perhaps most widely recognized for his work on the hit Netflix series "Russian Doll," which earned him an Emmy. Chris was also nominated for a second Emmy for his work on the wildly popular Hulu series "Only Murders in the Building," and he also directed two episodes of the second season. Beyond TV, Chris was awarded Best Cinematography at the 2017 Tribeca Film Festival for his work on the 16mm feature drama "Love After Love," starring Andie MacDowell. Six of the feature films Chris has shot have premiered at the Sundance Film Festival, and his work has been showcased consistently at festivals around the world, including New Directors/New Films, The New York Film Festival, Cannes, SXSW, and Karlovy Vary.

Chris graduated with an MFA in screenwriting and directing from Columbia University, where he directed a number of award-winning shorts.

"The Diplomat" Editor Gary Levy, ACE, shares his insights on his editing process, emphasizing the importance of balancing humor and serious themes. He discusses refining edits for pacing, emotional tension in dialogue, and the significance of showing all footage in the first cut.

Gary Levy, ACE, is currently editing "The Diplomant" for Netflix. Television credits include "Tokyo Vice," "Kaleidoscope," "The Good Fight," "The Sinner," "Nurse Jackie,: and "The Office."

Gary was nominated for an Independent Spirit Award for editing the feature film "The Tale." Other features include "Song of Back and Neck," "Just a Kiss," "Maze," Face," and "Outside Providence". Gary was also the VFX editor on several projects, including Ang Lee’s "Hulk."

Filmmaker U talks with Sound Designer Wylie Stateman and Supervising Sound Editor Anne Jimkes-Root about their work on "American Primeval" for Netflix. They discuss the creative process, the importance of the showrunner's vision, and sound design techniques. The conversation covers building sound libraries, additive mixing, and creating sound effects that support the narrative.

Wylie Stateman is a Nine-time Academy Award nominee and Emmy Award-winning sound designer Wylie Stateman is the co-founder of Soundelux and now the creative director of Twenty Four Seven Sound. He has worked with filmmakers on more than 150 films and received Academy Award nominations for his work on "Once Upon a Time…in Hollywood," "Deepwater Horizon," "Lone Survivor," "Django Unchained," "Inglourious Basterds," "Wanted," "Memoirs of a Geisha", "Cliffhanger" and "Born on the Fourth of July." Stateman also benefited from rich and long-lasting relationships with many talented filmmakers of our time, including Quentin Tarantino, Oliver Stone, Wolfgang Peterson, and the late John Hughes.

Anne Jimkes-Root is a Sound Designer, Emmy-nominated Re-Recording Mixer, and Music Editor from the Netherlands. For the past several years, Anne has been a lead creative and organizational contributor at 247SND and Soundelux, working closely with acclaimed Sound Designer Wylie Stateman. Anne’s creative sound work includes projects directed by Peter Berg ("Painkiller," "American Primeval"), Sam Levinson ("Euphoria," "The Idol"), Andrés Baiz ("Griselda"), and others. The past year, Anne collaborated with the renowned post-rock band Explosions In The Sky to curate the original score for Peter Berg’s latest Netflix limited series, "American Primeval."

"The Piano Lesson" Music Supervisors Deva Anderson and Rachel Lautzenheiser discuss music supervision, focusing on collaboration, research methods, and balancing popular and lesser-known tracks. They highlight the need for historical accuracy in music selection and share personal stories about favorite films. The conversation reveals the creative challenges in matching music to scenes, showcasing the dynamic nature of their work in the film industry.

Deva Anderson is an award-winning Music Supervisor and Executive with unparalleled range and depth. Over the course of her career, she has worked on more than 40 feature films with some of the most esteemed filmmakers in the industry, as well as more than 30 original series for television.

Deva got her start in the music industry representing artists before being hired by Tom Hanks and Gary Goetzman as the music supervisor of the iconic musical "That Thing You Do!," starring Hanks alongside Charlize Theron and Liv Tyler. Deva was then brought in-house by Hanks and Goetzman as the Head of Music when they launched their production company, Playtone, and has been involved in nearly every Playtone project over the past 25 years, including "Band of Brothers," "Greyhound" and "Masters of the Air," the latter of which she received an HMMA Award nomination for.

In addition to her work at Playtone, Deva is also a member of the Academy of Motion Pictures and NARAS, and works as a freelance music consultant for major studios. She has music supervised multiple films with distinctive, visionary directors, including Denis Villeneuve’s acclaimed films, "Prisoners," starring Hugh Jackman, Jake Gyllenhaal and Paul Dano, for Warner Bros.; and Villeneuve’s "Blade Runner 2049," starring Ryan Gosling, Harrison Ford, and Ana De Armas for Sony and Columbia Pictures.

Deva has been a music consultant with Netflix since 2019, working in tandem with the in-house music department on the Original Films slate. Deva also has a deep understanding and appreciation of Black music history which led her to music supervise Jonathan Demme’s Beloved, starring Oprah Winfrey and Danny Glover; as well as Netflix’s upcoming feature "The Piano Lesson, "starring Samuel L. Jackson and John David Washington; based on August Wilson’s Pulitzer Prize-winning drama.

Rachel Lautzenheiser is a rising Music Supervisor whose credits range in tone and genre, and include the Apple TV+ WWII limited series "Masters of the Air," ABC’s indigenous drama "Alaska Daily," Focus Features’ family comedy "My Big Fat Greek Wedding 3," and the film adaptation of August Wilson’s Pulitzer Prize-winning play, "The Piano Lesson", directed by Malcolm Washington and starring Danielle Deadwyler and John David Washington. For nearly a decade, Rachel has served as an integral part of the music department at Playtone, Tom Hanks and Gary Goetzman’s production company, working collaboratively with Deva Anderson, who has served as Head of Music for over 25 years.

Editor Eric Litman, ACE, discusses the series "Dope Thief," a show that focuses on two friends impersonating DEA agents. His editing process on the show is explored, highlighting tone, pacing, and the importance of music and sound design. His challenges in editing complex scenes from the show are addressed, along with collaboration with directors.

Eric Litman, ACE is a seasoned editor and a proud member of American Cinema Editors. He grew up outside of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, and earned his BA in Film from Temple University’s Film and Media Arts School before receiving his Master’s in Editing from the prestigious American Film Institute Conservatory.

Eric’s editing career took off with "Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.," where his work earned him a spot on the cover of Cinemontage in 2015. He played a key role in crafting many of the show’s most memorable premieres and finales.

Since then, Eric has edited a variety of fan-favorite series, including "Black Sails," "Magnum P.I.," "Charmed," and "Star Trek: Picard" In addition, he cut "The Hot Zone: Anthrax," a limited series produced by Ridley Scott’s Scott Free Productions for Nat Geo.

Currently, Eric is an editor on Netflix’s One Piece and the Apple TV+ series "Dope Thief," produced by Ridley Scott and Peter Craig.

"Watson" Costume Designer Kerry Weinrauch shares her design philosophy, highlighting the significance of styling, research, and collaboration. She uses the script as a guide to explain how character development shapes costume choices. Color is vital for expressing emotions and traits. Kerry discusses the challenges of designing for actors in dual roles and emphasizes collaboration with cinematography and production design for visual coherence.

Kerry Weinrauch is a TV and film costume designer with over 20 years of professional experience. Most recently, she worked on CBS and Paramount + "Watson," starring Morris Chestnut.

Previously, she also worked on over 170 episodes of "Supernatural," seasons 2 and 3 of Nancy Drew, and two seasons of the reboot of "Are You Afraid of the Dark?" She was also just nominated for a CAFTCAD award for her work on "The Winchesters. Beyond TV," she was the costume designer for "Rapture-Palooza," starring Anna Kendrick, Craig Robertson, Ken Jeong, and "Smokin' Aces 2: Assassins' Ball" for Universal Pictures, among many others.

Kerry started her career as a fashion designer before shifting to working as a stylist for commercials, music videos, band promotions, and editorials, leading her to transition into TV and film, with her first project being "Kyle XY."

She was born and raised in Vancouver, Canada, and lives on Galiano Island in a house in the forest. Kerry has a degree in Fashion Design from Kwantlen Polytechnic University. She is also a fine art photographer.
