Huge congratulations to pianist Emanuel Ax- Official Page who has been named Musical America Worldwide's Artist of the Year! 🎹🏆

For the past half-century Emanuel Ax has sat at the top of his field, equally masterful in solo piano music, concertos, and chamber music. This year, the American pianist embarks on a round of 50th-anniversary appearances, celebrating his longtime collaborations with ensembles like the Philadelphia Orchestra and the New York Philharmonic. But for all his long-established mastery, Ax continues to bring the freshness of a newcomer to his music-making. While he is best known for his interpretations of Beethoven and Brahms––this year he is in the midst of an unexpected adventure: a series of performances of John Williams’s brand-new piano concerto, written expressly for Ax’s own gifts.

As a recipient of this prestigious award, he joins a list of artistic luminaries that includes Yannick Nézet-Séguin, Yuja Wang, Peter Sellars, Gustavo Dudamel, Mitsuko Uchida, and more.
