POV: You had leftover puff pastry… but made it spooky 👻
These little mummy pop-tarts are stuffed with homemade berry chia jam (just 4 ingredients!) and toddler-approved.
Because everything’s better with candy eyes this time of year 👀✨
TRY THE RECIPE ⬇️⬇️
Ingredients
1 sheet puff pastry, thawed
1 egg (for egg wash)
Candy eyes 👀
Berry chia jam:
2 cups frozen blueberries (or mixed berries)
Juice of ½ lemon
1-2 tbsp maple syrup
2 tbsp chia seeds
Make the berry chia jam:
In a small pot, add your blueberries, lemon juice, and maple syrup. Cook over medium heat until the berries start to release their juices.
Lower the heat, mash to your desired texture, and stir in the chia seeds. Simmer for 2–3 minutes, then remove from heat and let it cool completely. (It’ll thicken as it cools!)
Assemble the pop tarts:
1. Roll out your puff pastry and cut into rectangles (for the “body”).
2. Add a spoonful of jam to the center of rectangle, and brush egg wash around the edges.
4. Cut extra pastry strips and layer them on top of the jam like mummy “bandages.”
5. Brush with egg wash and bake at 400°F for 12–15 minutes, or until golden brown.
6. Once cool, stick on candy eyes for the full spooky effect. 👻
