Just announced: Friday afternoon's Keynote Address will be delivered by Diane Foley, founder of the James W. Foley Legacy Foundation and mother of freelance conflict journalist and videographer James Foley - the first American journalist killed by ISIS while covering the Syrian Civil War.

Foley will address the sacrifices her son and others have made to report from war zones along with the dangers facing journalists in today's world. She will also talk about what journalists can do to protect themselves. A short film on moral courage will follow along with a question-and-answer session.

Final Days! Register for the "Practicing Journalism in Dangerous Times" Spring Region 1 Conference set for Fri. April 7 - Sat. April 8, 2017.

Hear from Keynote Speaker, Editor, and Publisher of the Columbia Journalism Review Kyle Pope.

Richard Drew of the Associated Press and David Handschuh of @NYDailyNews will be sharing their experiences as 9/11 photographers.

Other sessions will include Errol Louis of @NY1, and much more.

Students and attendees can have their projects, resumes, and video clips reviewed onsite by the pros.

Network, socialize, and meet with the Society of Professional Journalists' chapter members representing the northeast region. Students can attend for as low as $40, and similar discount pricing exists for pros.

Architect Mustafa Abadan, a onetime student at the 745-acre Cornell University, knows what a college campus is supposed to feel like. The challenge facing him when he was hired by John Jay College of Criminal Justice was how to build a college campus within the confines of a single city block.
