A large audience can make a weak strategy look healthy.

Impressions rise. Reach expands. The dashboard turns green. But the right buyers remain unchanged.

Demand begins when a specific audience recognises a costly problem, understands a credible path forward and remembers who helped them see it clearly.

That is different from visibility alone.

For B2B marketing, I would rather see:

• ten target buyers save a decision framework
• three commercial conversations quote the same idea
• one partner share the content with context

than thousands of irrelevant impressions that create no memory.

Reach matters, but it must be qualified by relevance.

What would you choose for your next campaign: 50,000 broad impressions or 500 views from the exact buying group?

The safest way to avoid generic AI-assisted content is not to hide the use of AI.

It is to add evidence the model could not have invented responsibly.

That evidence may be a client pattern, a decision, a trade-off, a failed assumption, an original observation or language captured from a real conversation.

This is the human evidence layer.

AI can help organise it. It can challenge the structure, suggest counterarguments or tighten the wording. But it should not manufacture the experience that gives the idea weight.

Before publishing, ask:

“What is in this piece because we have actually done the work?”

If the answer is nothing, the content may be accurate but still replaceable.

Which source of evidence is easiest for your business to capture consistently?

AI has removed much of the friction from producing a first draft.

It has not removed the need to decide what is worth saying.

When every company can generate ten competent posts in an afternoon, competent is no longer a meaningful advantage. The advantage shifts to judgment:

• choosing the question the market is avoiding
• making a clear argument instead of summarising a topic
• adding evidence that only the business can provide
• showing the trade-off behind a decision
• knowing what not to publish

The risk is not that AI will make all content bad. The risk is that it will make a huge amount of content acceptable, interchangeable and easy to ignore.

Speed still matters. But speed without a point of view only helps a brand disappear more efficiently.

What is harder in your team today: producing content, or deciding what deserves to be said?

Here is a simple test for a B2B positioning statement.

Can a new person understand it in20 seconds, and repeat the core idea tomorrow?

Use this structure as a diagnostic, not a permanent slogan:

We help [specific buyer] solve [costly problem] through [distinct approach], supported by [credible proof].

If the buyer is “businesses”, the problem is “growth”, the approach is “innovative solutions” and the proof is “years of experience”, the sentence is complete but still says almost nothing.

Specificity creates memory. Proof creates confidence.

Try the sentence with your current offer. Which bracket is hardest to fill without using a generic word?

A brand becomes difficult to understand when it tries to leave every door open.

The website says strategy, ex*****on, transformation, innovation and end-to-end support. The audience is everyone. The category is whatever the buyer needs it to be.

That flexibility feels commercially safe, but it creates a referral problem. People cannot place the business.

Use this audit with your leadership team. If the answers vary widely, the issue is not copywriting. It is strategic alignment.

The hardest question is usually the last one: what are we willing not to be?

Positioning becomes stronger when it includes a boundary. A clear boundary tells the right buyer why the company exists, and tells the wrong buyer why another option may suit them better.

Which question would create the most disagreement inside your organisation?

The real test of positioning is not whether your leadership team agrees with it.

It is whether a buyer can repeat it accurately after one conversation.

Many companies describe themselves with a list of capabilities, industries and adjectives. The result may be technically correct, but impossible to carry into another room.

A referable message should answer three things quickly:

• Who is this for?
• What difficult problem do they solve?
• What is meaningfully different about how they solve it?

If the answer needs a full slide deck, it is not yet clear enough.

Clarity is not simplification for its own sake. It is what allows the market to remember you, place you and recommend you.

Try this: ask someone outside your company to describe what you do in one sentence. What did they keep, and what disappeared?

A post can be useful, well written and beautifully designed, and still receive no reaction.

That is not always an editorial failure. Sometimes the right people simply never saw it.

For a new B2B page, I would spend as much time on discovery as production:

• contribute thoughtful comments where the target audience already gathers
• invite relevant first-degree connections, not everyone in the address book
• publish a distinct founder perspective from a personal profile
• ask one partner or colleague to add their own view, not copy and paste yours

Engagement is easier after familiarity exists.

Before rewriting your next post for the fifth time, check the more basic question: who has a realistic path to seeing it?

If a company page has almost no audience, posting three times a week is not a growth strategy. It is a production schedule.

The growth strategy begins outside the page.

A founder brings context. Employees bring trusted reach. Partners bring relevance. Comments create discovery. The page then becomes the place where those people can find a consistent body of thinking.

This is why a small B2B brand should not ask only, “What should we post?”

It should also ask:

• Who will introduce this idea to an existing network?
• Which conversation does it join?
• What will a new visitor understand after seeing three posts?
• Why should they follow instead of simply liking once?

Save this as a check before your next content sprint. Which layer of the system is currently weakest?

A quiet company page does not automatically mean the content is weak.

It often means the page has no distribution system around it.

A post needs at least three paths into the market:

1. A person with an existing network who adds a real point of view.
2. Relevant conversations that make the author visible before the post is published.
3. A reason for the right people to follow, not just react once.

Many B2B teams keep improving the artwork while ignoring the empty room. More polish will not solve that.

The page is the publishing surface. People are the distribution network.

Which is missing in your business right now: the point of view, the network, or the reason to follow?
