Romans took the ancestors of Ashkenazis out of Judea. Europeans never granted them European identity but also tried to strip them of their Judean identity. And so outsiders came to imagine that Jews didn’t really come from anywhere — that Jews weren’t really a people, and therefore, did not really need a home.

Ashkenazi Jews believe their relatives came from Germany and Eastern Europe, which misses the earlier journey from Israel.

Yesterday, Israel lost two great heroes in battle in Gaza who gave their lives defending our homeland.

Sgt. Yishai Elyakim Urbach (20), leaves behind a wife, both parents, and four siblings. He and his wife were newlyweds, having married only 2 months ago.

Staff Sgt. Yam Frid (21), was considered the “best son”, as well as a beloved friend and sibling.
