March 15, 2021.

Today I was happy to announce three new mass vaccination sites are coming to Long Island. The sites, located in Brentwood, Old Westbury and Southampton, will open this Friday, March 19. All three sites will have the ability to vaccinate more than one thousand New Yorkers daily dependent on supply from the federal government. Appointments become available for booking Wednesday, March 17, at 8:00am and can be made through the Am I Eligible Tool or by calling the NYS COVID-19 Vaccine Hotline at 1-833-NYS-4-VAX (1-833-697-4829). New York will continue to expand our distribution network and vaccinate more New Yorkers as supply ramps up further.

Here's what else you need to know tonight:

1. COVID hospitalizations rose slightly to 4,517. Of the 127,005 tests reported yesterday, 5,807, or 4.57 percent, were positive. There were 923 patients in ICU yesterday, down four from the previous day. Of them, 614 are intubated. Sadly, we lost 58 New Yorkers to the virus.

2. As of 11am this morning, 22.5 percent of New Yorkers have completed at least one vaccine dose. Over the past 24 hours, 122,778 total doses have been administered. To date, New York administered 6,699,848 total doses with 11.6 percent of New Yorkers completing their vaccine series. See data by region and county on the State's Vaccine Tracker: ny.gov/vaccinetracker.

3. The Bethpage Air Show at Jones Beach will return this year on Memorial Day weekend. The outdoor show, sponsored by Bethpage Federal Credit Union, features a range of military and civilian aerial performers. This year's show will be a ticketed event, with reduced capacity and social distancing measures in place to ensure a safe return of the patriotic Long Island tradition.

4. Wedding receptions and catered events can now resume statewide at limited capacity. All venues hosting weddings and catered events must follow the State's health and safety protocols. More information on the industry guidelines can be found here.

5. Excelsior Pass is coming soon. Earlier this month, New York announced a pilot program with Madison Square Garden and the Barclays Center to test Excelsior Pass—a free, fast and secure way to present digital proof of COVID-19 vaccination or negative test results at businesses or venues. New York is now testing Excelsior Pass with select "Beta" participants. If you are interested in being a "Beta" tester and helping New York safely reopen, fill out this screening form and you may be selected to be among the first to get a look at Excelsior Pass.

Tonight's "Deep Breath Moment": A missing baby kangaroo was safely returned home thanks to a community coming together. Stokoe Farms in Scottsville, NY, is known for Christmas trees and pumpkin patches but also cares for kangaroos. One of their young kangaroos (or joeys), Kaia, recently escaped her handler, but thanks to the efforts of a group of volunteers who organized a search, the joey was found and returned safely to the farm's care.

January 13, 2021.

Today, the Jacob K. Javits Center, Westchester County Center and New York State Fair Expo Center opened at 8 a.m. to begin administering vaccines to eligible New Yorkers. These are the first three state-run sites to open. A site at Jones Beach will open tomorrow, January 14th, and a site at SUNY Albany will open on Friday, January 15th. Vaccinations are by appointment only and New Yorkers can determine eligibility and find a provider to receive their first dose through the State's "Am I Eligible" app or call the New York State Vaccination Hotline at 1-833-NYS-4-VAX (1-833-697-4829). And New Yorkers will be able to schedule an appointment to receive the required second dose on site after receiving their first dose. New Yorkers should not attempt to book their second appointment online.

We will aggressively act to get New Yorkers vaccinated quickly and efficiently, but lack of supply from the federal government is an enormous issue. Until the federal government provides us with more supply of vaccines, I again ask that New Yorkers be patient.

Here's what else you need to know tonight:

1. Tomorrow, I will give my fourth and final 2021 State of the State Address. This year's State of the State outlines proposals to defeat COVID and to build a New York that is stronger than ever before. We will Reimagine, Rebuild, and Renew our great state. I hope you will join me tomorrow at 11:30 a.m. ET. to watch the final part of my address live at governor.ny.gov.

2. Total hospitalizations rose to 8,929. Of the 196,868 tests reported yesterday, 14,577, or 7.40 percent, were positive. There were 1,501 patients in ICU yesterday, up 9 from the previous day. Of them, 924 are intubated. Sadly, we lost 165 New Yorkers to the virus.

3. The deadline to sign up for a health plan starting on February 1 through the NY State of Health is this Friday. New Yorkers have until Friday, January 15th, to renew or enroll in a health plan that begins on February 1. Visit their website or call 855-355-5777 to enroll.

4. Three additional cases of the UK variant have been identified in New York. This brings the total to 15 cases in New York. In addition to the new cases, there are four cases in Saratoga County and two other cases in Warren County that have all been identified as part of the Saratoga cluster; two cases in Suffolk County; two cases from Nassau County; and one from Queens. The final case was identified in Manhattan and is not connected to either the Saratoga cluster or the Long Island cluster.

5. As of 3:00pm today, New York has administered 732,066 vaccine doses. Of those, 624,280 doses have been administered in distribution sites including hospitals and 107,786 have been administered in Long Term Care facilities. This represents an increase of 67,000 in the last 24 hours.

6. The U.S. announced that a negative COVID test will be required for all international travelers. The new rule goes into effect on January 26th. This decision comes after I and other governors urged the federal government to implement the policy and New York reached an agreement with major airlines to require testing for New York-bound passengers from the UK.

Tonight's "Deep Breath Moment": Landing on August 6th, 2012, NASA's rover Curiosity celebrated its 3,000th day on Mars yesterday. Since its landing, the robot has captured dozens of high-resolution images beamed back down to Earth to help us better understand the climate of our neighboring planet and continue the search for life beyond Earth.

December 1, 2020.

December is here, and we are quickly moving toward a COVID-19 vaccine, which is great news. However, the federal government's current vaccine distribution plan fails to address equity issues adequately. Today, joined by a coalition of groups, I issued a letter to the Department for Health and Human Services Secretary Alex Azar urging the administration to support underserved communities and to protect undocumented immigrants in the process of the federal COVID-19 vaccination program.

We need to fund outreach to Black, Brown, Asian and low-income communities that are historically underserved by healthcare institutions so that every person in the United States can get vaccinated. Time is of the essence as we get closer to the distribution date and I urge the federal government to address these issues quickly.

Chart of the Day: New York continues to lead the nation in testing and to date we have conducted over 19 million tests.

Here's what else you need to know tonight:

1. The statewide positivity rate ticked up to 4.96 percent yesterday. There were 7,285 positive cases from 146,675 tests reported yesterday. The positivity rate in the micro-cluster focus areas was 6.27 percent. Excluding these areas, it was 4.46 percent.

2. Total hospitalizations rose to 3,774. There were 718 patients in ICU yesterday, up 37 from the previous day. Of them, 348 are intubated. Sadly, we lost 66 New Yorkers to the virus.

3. Western NY has the highest positivity rate of any region in the state. The region has a 7.29 percent test positivity rate on a 7-day average, the highest of any of New York's regions. Regardless of where you live, you should be sure to follow the health guidelines—but this is especially true in Western NY.

4. The tree lighting ceremony at Rockefeller Center will be held virtually tomorrow, December 2nd. There will be no public viewing of the lighting ceremony, but New Yorkers can watch it on TV—on NBC at 8pm. Starting Thursday, December 3rd, the tree will open to the public with protocols in place to manage crowds.

5. New York's annual holiday toy, coat and school supply drive begins today. This year has been difficult for more families than any time in recent memory. The holiday donation drive will benefit families in need across the state and runs through December 16th. Drop-off locations are set up around the State and COVID-19 protocols will be in place to ensure the safety of those dropping off donations. I encourage all New Yorkers to participate in the drive to help make someone else's holiday brighter.

Tonight's "Deep Breath Moment": Captain Sir Tom Moore, a British World War II veteran, has been named one of GQ's "Men of the Year" and will become the oldest person ever to be featured on the magazine's cover. Moore first caught our (and the world's) attention when he tried to raise $1,200 in COVID-19 relief funds before his 100th birthday by walking laps in his yard. Not only did he smash his goal by raising over $39 million, but he was also knighted by Queen Elizabeth II for his service.
