Finah Misa Kule – The film | Kewulay Kamara

In 2007 and 2009, I traveled to Sierra Leone with Kewulay Kamara as his cinematographer. The film he wrote and directed about the traditions of the Kuranko people of northwestern Sierra Leone is now complete. It will premiere at African Film Festival on May 14, 2016. See the trailer here:

Just learned that my company's proposal for a short documentary about AA in North American prisons was not the winning bid. I suggested anonymously interviewing recovering inmates at prisons in Little Rock, Arkansas, Anchorage, Alaska, Montréal, Québec and New York, New York to learn how alcohol got them in prison in the first place and how sobriety will help them live better lives now. I have other projects in the pipeline. One is about a Chinese-American abstract painter for which we shot footage last year. The other one is a multi-platform documentary about people living full lives twenty years after being infected with HIV, the virus associated with AIDS.

I completed my novel On A Sunlit Beach on July 30. The story evolves from the serendipitous meeting between ballerina Eliza Svenssen and visual artist Roderick Feelings in 1976 at a New York City Gay Pride beach bash. They immediately click and proceed to paint the Big Apple red until October 1977 when an unexpected event upends the life they've built together. Populated by lovable people with very human flaws, On A Sunlit Beach is about pursuing dreams, developing intimacy and embracing the present.
