Bill C-226 was introduced in February of 2022 and passed in June 2024 with the goal to mandate a national strategy to end environmental racism in Canada. Africville, a historic Black community in Nova Scotia, has faced decades of environmental oversite and will be one of the key areas Bill C-226 will help restore. 
 
Bill C-226 sets a precedent for future environmental justice policy, not just in Canada, but across the globe. 🌎

A new Department of Energy loan guarantee would help finance 200 megawatts of solar and 285 megawatts of grid storage in Puerto Rico. Two solar farms are under the project and are expected to generate 200 megawatts of solar capacity in total, which could power 43,000 homes. Customers in Puerto Rico pay on roughly 41% more than the U.S. average for electricity.
