HE IS TOO YOUNG TO UNDERSTAND WAR... š
Look at this little boy's face in the first few seconds. He is just a toddler, smiling and playing, completely unaware that his life has been changed forever. To him, itās just another day outside. But then, he looks up. He sees his mother weeping, standing among the endless rows of white headstones.
In an instant, his innocent smile fades. With a tiny, gentle hand, he reaches up to wipe the tears from his mother's cheek. He doesn't understand what a military funeral is. He doesn't understand the perfectly folded flag or the solemn sound of the trumpet. He just knows his mom is hurting, and as he looks at the casket, he asks the one question that shatters the silence: "Where's Daddy?"
When the soldier hands him the folded American flag and a picture of his hero, the heartbreaking reality finally sets in. Clinging to that flag as if it were his fatherās chest, his small voice breaks. "I miss you, Dad."
This is the true, heavy cost of our freedom. It is paid for by the brave men and women who never make it back, and it is carried for a lifetime by the families they leave behind. This little boy will grow up without his father, but he will always hold the legacy of an absolute hero.
