AITA For Banning My Friend From My House Because Of Her "Sugar Addiction"? - Reddit Stories

So, a little backstory: my friend Megan has this insane sweet tooth. Like, she carries bags of candy with her everywhere, has donuts for breakfast, and once drank an entire two-liter bottle of soda in one sitting. It’s like she’s constantly on a sugar high. I’m not one to judge, but recently it’s been getting out of hand. I’ve asked her to cut back a bit when she comes over because I don’t want my place turning into a sugar coma zone. You can probably guess how this went. She’s been sneaking candy into my house, stashing it in my cabinets, and it’s driving me crazy.
I finally snapped and told her she wasn’t allowed back at my house until she could respect my request and cut back on the junk food. She’s furious, texting me non-stop about how I’m “judging her lifestyle” and “acting like a health-nazi.”
So, Am I The A***e for banning her? I feel like I’m just trying to keep my home healthy, but now she’s playing the victim card. Should I cave or stick to my guns?

AITA For Not Letting My Sister Move In Because Of Her Cat? - Reddit Stories

I (29 male) sister (32) asked if she could move in with me for a bit. She’s going through a rough patch after a breakup, and I agreed… until she casually mentioned she’d be bringing her cat.
Now, I don’t hate cats. But her cat is something else. It’s an absolute terror. It’s like the cat was trained in the art of destruction. My furniture looks like it went through a war zone. She swears the cat is “just stressed” but it’s been years and the damn thing still knocks over everything. My apartment is small, and I’m not trying to live in a feline crime scene.
So, I told her she could stay, but without the cat. She lost it. Apparently, her and this cat are “a package deal,” and if the cat’s not welcome, neither is she.
Now, she’s pi**ed at me, and our whole family is starting to turn on me. They say I’m being unreasonable because, “it’s just a cat.” But I feel like I’m justified here.
Am I The A***e for sticking to my no-cat rule, or should I just s-ck it up and let the feline menace destroy my life?

AITA For Asking My Friend To Pay Me Back For A “Free” Gift? - Reddit Stories

I (26 female) have a friend, Lily (27), who’s always super “broke” but still finds a way to go out for brunch every weekend and buy new outfits. She’s the kind of person who will send me a text saying “I really need a cute dress for this wedding I’m going to!” and then ask if I can “help” her find something cheap. Naturally, I’m always the one picking it out and even offering to lend her clothes.
Anyway, last month she told me she was having a birthday party, and I thought, “You know what? I’ll get her something nice!” So I bought her a designer purse. I know, I know, it’s a bit much, but she’s my close friend, and I wanted to treat her. Flash forward to yesterday – she posts a pic with my gift on her Instagram, but it wasn’t tagged or credited. I don’t care about the credit, but here’s the kicker: She’s selling it on Depop. I was floored.
So, I texted her, “Hey, I hope you don’t mind, but I’d appreciate it if you could pay me back for the purse.” She lost it, saying I was “so petty” and “ruining our friendship over a gift.”
Am I The A***e for asking her to pay me back, or am I being unreasonable?

AITA For Calling My Mom A Hypocrite After She Flipped Out Over My Christmas Tree? - Reddit Stories

I (25 female) am in my first apartment, and I decided to go all out this year for Christmas. I bought a real tree, decorated it with a ton of lights, and put on a bunch of quirky, personal ornaments. Think: little goofy snowmen, some retro tinsel, and yes, a few questionable DIY ornaments that probably would’ve made Martha Stewart cringe.
When my mom (50s) came over to see it, she LOST IT. She immediately started criticizing everything—how tacky it looked, how the tree was "too big for such a small space," and how I wasn’t even trying to make it look like something from a magazine. Then, she dropped the b-mb: “This isn’t how we do Christmas. It’s all about tradition.”
Now here’s the kicker: my mom is a huge fan of inflatable yard decorations. Like, her front yard looks like a Christmas explosion. There’s a giant Santa, a polar bear, the whole shebang. So I, uh, told her that she was being a hypocrite, and that maybe her idea of "tradition" was just an excuse to blow up her yard like a Christmas carnival.
She didn’t take that well and now she’s not speaking to me.
Am I The A***e? Or did I just stand my ground?

AITA For Ruining My Friend's Wedding After Finding Out Her "Surprise" Was Actually For My Ex? - Reddit Stories

My best friend (let’s call her Sarah) got married last weekend. It was a beautiful ceremony, but there was one little detail that caught me off guard. Sarah had planned a “surprise” speech for the reception. She told me she had something really special to say about me, and I was touched. I thought maybe she’d bring up how we’ve been friends since college, or how I helped her through a tough breakup.
Well, when it was time for the speech, she stood up and started going on about how amazing "Jared" was—my ex—and how he had been such an important part of my life. She then pulled out a picture of us together, a photo from when we were dating! But here’s the kicker: Jared dumped me a year ago, and he was literally sitting across from me at the wedding with his new girlfriend.
I don’t know what came over me, but I stood up, grabbed the mic, and told everyone that the “special surprise” was a huge betrayal. I walked out, and the wedding was kind of ruined.
So, Am I The A***e for blowing up her wedding and calling her out for involving my ex in the first place? Or should I have just kept my mouth shut and let it slide?

AITA For Refusing To Help My Sister With Her Wedding Dress Because She Kept Stealing My Clothes?

So, my sister (24) is getting married, and it’s all anyone can talk about. She’s been sending me texts for weeks asking if I’ll “help” her find a wedding dress. I’m flattered, right? But here’s the catch: she’s always borrowed my clothes in the past and never returned them. It started with a jacket, then moved on to my favorite shoes, and last year, she took my jeans for “just a night out.” She returned them two months later, and they were stretched out beyond recognition.
I’ve been pretty chill about it, but lately, it’s been getting out of hand. She tried to take my new sweater last week and I just snapped. I said, “I’m done lending you stuff if you don’t even respect my things.”
Now she’s asking me for help finding her wedding dress, and I said no. I told her, “Maybe you could ask someone who actually respects your requests.” She’s upset, my mom’s calling me a brat, and the whole family is mad at me.
Am I The A***e for refusing to help her? It just feels like a pattern, and I’ve had enough. But am I being too harsh?
What do you think, Am I the j-rk here or just standing up for myself?

AITA For Kicking My Sister Out Of My Wedding After She "Borrowed" My Dress? - Reddit Stories

I (28 female) wedding was last weekend, and everything was going smoothly... until it wasn't. My sister (26) has always been, let's say, a little obsessed with attention. She's not malicious, but always finds ways to turn the spotlight on herself. This time, she took it way too far.
A day before the wedding, I noticed my dress was missing from its spot in the closet. Freaking out, I asked my sister if she’d seen it. She nonchalantly said, “Oh, I just borrowed it for a bit for a photoshoot! I’ll bring it back in a few hours.” I could not believe what I was hearing. This was THE dress. The one I’d been dreaming of for years. She didn’t even ask.
After a couple of tense hours, she finally returned it... with some weird “artsy” shots on her phone, where she was clearly wearing the dress. At this point, I’m livid. I told her she could either leave the wedding or leave the dress. She chose the latter.
The wedding went off without a hitch, but now I’m getting texts from family saying I overreacted. So, Am I The A***e for kicking her out over the dress, or was I justified?
Anyone else had a very over-the-top sibling moment like this?

AITA For Refusing To Help My Sister After She Completely Ruined My Vacation Plans? - Reddit Stories

I (a 27 year old female) had a big vacation planned for months. I saved up, booked everything, and was all set for a solo trip to a beach resort to relax. Fast forward to two days before departure, and my sister (24) calls me in tears, saying her long-distance boyfriend broke up with her and she really needs me to cancel my trip and spend the week with her because she's "devastated."
I felt bad, but I already had everything locked in, and this trip was the only break I was going to get in a long time. I told her that I couldn’t cancel everything last minute and that maybe she could hang out with friends or other family members for support. She didn’t take it well, saying I was selfish and that I was abandoning her in her time of need. I tried explaining that I had been planning this for months, and she couldn't expect me to just drop everything.
She’s been sending me angry texts, calling me a horrible sister, and even threatened to stop talking to me if I don’t "do the right thing."
So, Am I The A***e for sticking to my plans and going on vacation instead of being her emotional support? Or should I have sacrificed my trip to be there for her?

AITA For Taking Back A Birthday Gift I Gave To My Friend After She Didn't Use It? - Reddit Stories

I (28 female) spent a lot of time picking out the perfect birthday gift for my friend “Sarah” (27). I know she’s obsessed with fitness, so I got her a pretty expensive set of high-quality workout gear that I thought she’d love. I even threw in a couple of personalized water bottles with motivational quotes on them.
She opened the gift, said thank you, and seemed genuinely excited. Fast forward to a couple of weeks later, I noticed she was posting pics on Instagram of her using other workout gear—nothing from what I gave her. At first, I thought maybe she was just holding off on using it, but then I saw her wearing a different brand's workout outfit in one of her stories.
I’m not one to get possessive over gifts, but I felt a little hurt. So, I texted her, asking if I could take the gear back. She was shocked and honestly kind of pi**ed. She said I was being weird and that she still appreciated the thought.
Now I’m second-guessing myself. Am I The A***e for taking back a gift just because she didn’t use it? Or was I right to reclaim it if she wasn’t even using it?
