Famos Productions Portraiture that displays emotion and holds meaningful purpose Famos Productions is a New York based photo and video production company based in New York.

Named after the Owner and CEO, Christian Amos Briones, the name is a play on words as his middle name is within the word “Famous” when the letter ‘u’ is removed. Showing that just because something is not done the generic way, does not mean it’s incorrect. It simply creates a new meaning.

An effort at chiaroscuro in outdoor portraiture

The Italian term (chiaroscuro) means “light dark”, most notably it is a painting technique used to give two dimensional objects in a painting a three dimensional appearance by using light and dark variants of the same color, to suggest a light source. Recreating the way the light would react to the surface, creating a shadow, is what gives the realistic look.

Although recreating this style is best executed indoors- where there are heavy shadows and more controlled elements. Limitations can boost creativity. Shooting this outdoors forced us to get creative with the sunset and ambient lights.
