The Trump administration’s next round of tariffs, taking effect Oct. 14, have spared the flooring industry — for now. However, even though laminate flooring and engineered wood flooring was excluded from new Section 232 tariffs, the products will automatically be subjected to reciprocal tariffs, which vary by country.

FCW was honored to attend Mohawk's annual Pink Out event at its headquarters in Calhoun, Ga., celebrating Mohawk's 24-year commitment in supporting the Susan G. Komen organization. During the lifetime of the partnership, Mohawk has donated more than $8 million to the organization, noted Greer Horne, vice president of corporate sponsorships for Komen. This has resulted, among other things, in a 44 percent reduction in U.S. breast cancer mortality since 1989 as well as 29 FDA-approved drugs. In addition, Mohawk provides walkers at Komen's 3-Day walks with its SmartCushion carpet pad for walkers to sit on as part of Mohawk's Cushion the Fight efforts. Mohawk's continued commitment is crucial, Horne said.

"Your enthusiasm and support of our three day have made Mohawk a beloved member of our pink bubble community and you've really made the lunch shops transformational and true relaxing with your smart cushion donation."

Mohawk will continue to support Komen year round, said Joe Semaan, president of residential carpet. "I'm very proud of what Mohawk does to support this foundation and to support the cause." Semaan also unveiled Mohawk's newest Cushion the Fight video celebrating the walkers and organization. In addition, he announced that Karastan's KaraStep Reserve carpet cushion will also now be pink and contribute to the cause.
