DEEP SPLIT AMONG TORIES AS HALF OF MEMBERS WANT BADENOCH REPLACED BEFORE NEXT ELECTION

Exclusive polling reveals a party at war with itself, with 50% of members believing the new leader should not lead them into the 2029 general election.

In a stark warning to Kemi Badenoch, a new poll has exposed a deep rift within the Conservative Party, showing that half of its members do not want her to lead them into the next general election.

The YouGov survey of 652 Conservative members, conducted during what should be her victorious first conference as leader, reveals a party already gripped by internal doubt. While a majority (70%) view her favorably, a significant minority of 29% hold an unfavorable opinion.

This division is sharper when assessing her performance. Although 61% believe she is doing a good job as party leader, 37% think she is doing a bad job. A substantial bloc of discontent for a new leader.

The most damaging finding centers on the future. When asked if Badenoch should be the party’s prime ministerial candidate in 2029, members are almost evenly split: 50% say she should not, versus 46% who believe she should.

This data comes amid reports of open discussion at the party conference about replacing Badenoch as soon as the party rules allow a challenge, suggesting her leadership is on shaky ground from the outset.

Razaq, Shade Okoya Battle Senator Obende Over Property Allegedly Used As Collateral For $250,000 Loan

A major property dispute has broken out in Lekki Phase 1, Lagos, involving billionaire businessman, Chief Razaq Okoya, his wife Chief (Mrs.) Shade Okoya, on one hand; and former Senator Domingo Obende on the other.

The fight is over a block of sixteen three-bedroom flats located at Plot 96, Ladipo Omotosho Cole Street. The property is currently the subject of a court case — Suit No: LD/5226GCM/2021 — between Senator Domingo’s company, Dajo Oil Nigeria Limited, and the Okoyas’ company, RAO Investment Property Company Ltd.
Documents from Oludare Adaramewa & Co., lawyers for Senator Domingo and Dajo Oil, explain how the problem started.

According to the letter, Mrs. Shade Okoya (also known as Mrs. Memunat Ajoke Olubando) collected an advance payment of $250,000 (about ₦400 million) from Senator Domingo’s company on behalf of RAO Investment Property Company Ltd. and Eleganza Ball Pen Industries Ltd.

The payment was meant to be a loan backed by the Lekki property as security. The property’s original Certificate of Occupancy (C of O) was handed over as proof of the agreement.
However, the letter said that despite several meetings and discussions, the Okoyas have not refunded the money or transferred ownership of the property as agreed.
Because of this, Senator Domingo’s company has gone to court, asking the court to take over and sell the property to recover the money owed.
The lawyer also confirmed that the original C of O is still in their possession, meaning Senator Domingo’s company still has a legal claim on the property.

N’assembly proposes November 2026 presidential, governorship elections in new Electoral Act amendment

The proposed amendments came to the fore on Monday during a one-day public hearing organised by the joint committee of the senate and the house of representatives on electoral matters.

At the hearing, many stakeholders demanded the introduction of electronic voting and electronic transmission of results to strengthen transparency.

Adebayo Balogun, chairman of the house of representatives committee on electoral matters, said the goal is to create enough time for the resolution of election petitions before the swearing-in of winners.
