We just finished building our home. I have a design background, specifically in apparel. I’ve taken a pause from my design career to focus on my two toddlers this past 3 years. I’ve been feeling isolated with an itch to create something. This entire home journey is more than just a design project. Slowly feeling like myself again. It has brought so much joy, hope, and excitement. let me know what you guys think. I welcome all feedback, but please keep it constructive, honest, and helpful.

It's not in the budget for a new mantel right now so I tried the faux wood kit. I think it turned out pretty good. Looks better then the white.
If you have recommendations for this wall let me know. We will cover the cords. Last picture shows the herringbone tile I plan to replace marble with.

Please help… after a year of reading all of the great suggestions from this group, I am finally brave enough for my first post. I have this gigantic wall broken up by the tall fireplace and I have no idea what to do with it. One giant art piece in the middle? One on each side? I want to do a larger mantle but haven’t figured out how yet. Any and all suggestions would be so appreciated!

I got so much great feedback (thank you) on my wallpaper choice when I was unsure, so I decided to go for it.
Once the wallpaper was up the room seemed so blah to me (isn't that weird?) because everything looked like the same tone (see photo with wallpaper and white vanity.)
I sat with it a while and made the decision to change the vanity to navy, and it did exactly what I was hoping for. Now I love it!
Plus, it's all peel and stick paper so I can remove it if I decide I want a change down the road.
Still not 100% decided on vanity-top decor, so suggestions welcome. I'm also waffling on art between the mirrors.

What are your thoughts on these stools? My husband insisted they would look great, but they aren’t what I wanted. I really wanted a leather or faux leather terracotta color. I can’t return the stools and he says I can get new ones if i want, but I’m really trying to make myself like these. I had a vision of what I wanted and I think that’s my issue. Keep or get new? Edit: these are bar height stools my husband plans to cut them down to counter height. I’ve also added a picture of the rug I bought which has the terracotta color in it.

I just wanted to show off my fridge makeover! We got this cafe fridge from a scratch and dent place and saved $2500. It had one single small dent and was missing handles. With black cabinets, I wasn’t thrilled about stainless steel but black stainless steel is pricey and I wanted a cafe bad. My boyfriend wrapped it in carbon fiber and she is stunning!
Edit: I added close ups of the handles since they appear silver in the photo. They are brushed gold, purchased from the Cafe website. They are not painted. The wrap size is 5’x6’ but depends on your fridge size.

My mother in laws home is SO beautiful photos don’t do it justice but I just wanted to share their (almost complete) lightly viking inspired dining room 🫶🏼

My neighbor and I swapped dining room tables because she wanted mine and I wanted hers 🤣 But I also knew once getting it, I’ve got to change It up a bit to match the “earthy tone” in my home.
I want to reupholster the cushions but I’m struggling on the color I want to go with. And if you suggest I paint all the black to a different color, I’m also open to that!

I created a sitting space where the dinette table had been because just 10 feet away is the dining room. My elderly parents sit there while I am cooking. I sit there in the mornings to drink coffee and watch a bit of the morning news. WOULD THIS SPACE BE A TURNOFF FOR POTENTIAL BUYERS? Thank you so much for your opinions.

A little before and after, and story!
Last summer my husband and I found this little farmhouse that was quite quirky. We both absolutely loved the property, but he wasn’t crazy about the house. It was definitely a downgrade from our home at the time. However, I saw nothing but massive potential and promised him I’d turn it into our dream house. Shortly after moving in almost a year ago, I quit my corporate career of 16 years, became a full time stay at home mama to my two kids, and part time DIY’er, turning this house into our home. 🥰 I still have a lot more projects that I want to complete, but very happy with a year’s progress!
