Every Halloween, the quiet southwest corner of the Village of Red Hook bursts to life. The streets of Fraleigh, Prince, Garden, Church, Philips, and Benner fill with costumed families, glowing jack-o’-lanterns, graveyards, ghosts, and smiles that carry into the night. From 5:30 to 9 p.m., neighbors transform their homes into haunted wonderlands, drawing visitors from across Northern Dutchess to join in the fun. Here’s a look at this year’s impromptu Red Hook Halloween celebration, an evening of creativity, community, and plenty of candy. Watch our photo gallery below.

At the start of a recent Red Hook Town Board meeting, Supervisor Robert McKeon asked the chair of the Red Hook Water Board for an update on the Town’s water system.

Hank Van Parys – thin, bald, eyes alert – launched into an intricate, 35-minute explanation on why the Town’s water rates would need to rise slightly in 2026. He paused only occasionally to consult his notes.
