Since 1999, New York's Stratosphere Sound has been a go-to spot for established acts as well as local, up and coming bands. Located in West Chelsea, home to some of the city's best galleries, restaurants and nightlife, Stratosphere features two studios designed by renowned architect Fran Manzella. The A Room is a world-class tracking and mixing room centered around a fully updated classic 32-input Neve 8068 MkII console, while the B Room (built around a Trident 24 console) is ideal for smaller budget and developing projects, as well as overdubs and editing sessions.
Upstairs is a spacious and sunny lounge area, complete with a full kitchen and dining area. We also house an extensive array of instruments, including a Baldwin baby grand piano, dozens of vintage keyboards, classic amps, guitars, drum kits and more.
Owned by Adam Schlesinger (Academy and Grammy Award nominated songwriter, member of Fountains of Wayne and Ivy), James Iha (Smashing Pumpkins, A Perfect Circle) and Andy Chase (Ivy, Brookville), Stratosphere has hosted a diverse clientele over the years. Past clients include Depeche Mode, Green Day, The Yeah Yeah Yeahs, Comedy Central, Rob Thomas, Michael Stipe, Keith Urban, Disney, Ryan Adams, Moby, America, Dashboard Confessional, Rufus Wainwright and Television among many others.
