s for collections of poetry, short stories, or essays. We are focused on publishing a range of voices and books that more fully reflect the diverse society in which we live. We are particularly interested in publishing work of writers from underrepresented communities in terms of sexual identity, ethnicity, gender, disability, and social mobility. Our press is inspired by diversity, dada, punk, and passion: please keep this in mind when submitting. To get an idea of the type of work we publish, spend some time with our books to determine whether your work and our list are compatible—and be prepared to write a statement indicating why Three Rooms Press is a perfect fit for your submission. We are currently most interested in seeing these in our inbox:

1) Authentic stories written from diverse perspectives, across all genres (see Disasterama by Alvin Orloff).

2) YA Fiction with fully realized casts of characters, including female, LGBTQ+, and underrepresented leads (see Quiver by Julia Watts)

3) Unique, brilliant, and extremely well-written punk rock memoirs and biographies (see Punk Avenue by Phil Marcade)

4) Inventive riffs on existing genres, particularly noir and cyberpunk (see Scavenger by Christopher Chambers)

5) Biographies of unusually noteworthy people and events that deserve a place in history books (see BAD: The Autobiography of James Carr)

6) Diversely populated worlds, including those with speculative elements (see The Door to Inferna by Rishab Borah)

7) Imaginative and innovative plots, particularly YA and adult novels exploring friendship and coming-of-age (see Nirvana Is Here by Aaron Hamburger)

Wednesday, August 20, in NYC: Join us for our 18th annual Charles Bukowski Memorial Reading at the legendary The Bitter End. Poems, Readings & Performance by Penny Arcade | Jennifer Blowdryer | Frank Messina Puma Perl | Michael Puzzo | Danny Shot | Richard Vetere + VERY Special Guests.

Charles Bukowski was considered the champion of outsiders and outcasts of society. His work is still vividly relevant today since Bukowski wrote about the human condition, something that can be applied to any time period regardless of changes in technology, politics, or societal conflict.

Still, one wonders what Bukowski would have to say about contemporary issues including:
• The current US president
• Artificial intelligence
• Tarrifs
• ICE, and more

At the annual memorial reading, performers will consider all this and more while channeling the spirit of Bukowski through his poems and personal stories.

After exactly fifteen minutes, a ribbon will be extended across the path of the group, and a banner will be erected which says “End of Life: Grand Opening” (bilingual signage). The “owner” (Peter Carlaftes) will announce that it is time for the grand opening of his new business venture “The End of Life.” Mistress of ceremonies Kat Georges will hand out disposable cameras and will stand with the “owner” for cheesy photos in front of the ribbon and banner. Then, using an oversized pair of scissors, he will cut the ribbon and allow people to enter the end of life. Once they pass by the cut ribbon, they must “die” by laying on the ground. The last person to pass through the cut ribbon will be the “owner”. The mistress of ceremonies will invite those who have not passed through the ribbon to take photos until she yells “Cut,” at which time all those who have entered The End of Life will be permitted to rise from the “dead” and leave.
