The Singers Forum and EMGCollective Congratulate Stephane Duret, on his Broadway debut as Sam's Father in Kinky Boots on Tuesday, September 6th...and his first set dates to appear in the leading role of 'Lola' on November 12th and 13th.

"Before I joined the Broadway cast of Kinky Boots and was adorned with the honor and responsibility of understudying such a powerhouse role, I was just like many other Equity actors juggling several jobs to pay rent while struggling to find a way to work my craft. I had the fortune of being granted an Equity Scholarship through the Singers Forum with the Eric Michael Gillett Collective. Not only did I get to start working with a teacher that spoke to me and my instrument in a way that made sense and furthered my career, but I was also able to continue my studies while maintaining a life in pricey New York City.
Eric Michael has forever changed the way I sing, and I would not have had the opportunity to work with him had it not been for the scholarship!
I'm eternally grateful for Eric Michael Gillett and the Singers Forum Equity Scholarship Program!"

In Creating Your Cabaret: The Next Step, renowned performer and concert/cabaret director Eric Michael Gillett (2014 MAC Award Winner-Director) invites experienced cabaret artists to challenge themselves by taking the first steps in shaping new concepts and ideas into fully realized cabaret evenings. You’ve taken the classes, performed in the showcases, you’ve even built a show or two…and you’re wondering “what’s next?” Take the next step by exploring cabaret possibilities you had not even considered, going beyond simple songbook tributes, autobiography, and concept shows and begin to explore the idea that’s been burning a hole in your creative soul. This workshop is designed to free the artist from preconceived notions of what is or isn’t ‘cabaret’ and allow a true freedom of expression, while still creating the kind of entertaining evening that inspires and lifts an audience to a new-found level of appreciation for the art form itself.

The New York Times states that “Mr. Gillett has helped shape conceptual shows whose mixtures of song and talk fuse the personal and the historical into something more cohesive than a conventional set with patter’ his shows, especially those for Ms. (Karen) Akers, are turbulent emotional journeys of self-discovery.”

Mr. Gillett’s clients include Broadway’s Mandy Gonzalez (In the Heights, Wicked), Jarrod Spector (Jersey Boys, Tony nominee for Beautiful), Kelli Barrett(Doctor Zhivago), and Jessica Keenan Wynn, Jessie Mueller (2015 Tony Award Winner) along with cabaret and theatre giants Karen Akers, KT Sullivan, Tovah Feldshuh, Karen Oberlin, Marieann Meringolo and Carolyn Montgomery-Forant. 2013 MetroStar winner, Lauren Stanford, for whom Mr. Gillett directed her cabaret debut, I’m a Stranger Here Myself, began the development of her Helen Morgan project, More Than You Know: A Helen Morgan Cabaret in the Creating Your Cabaret workshops.

With Audition and Vocal Performance, work on your audition material and prepare for upcoming auditions or roles you are aspiring to play. Class is appropriate for both the professional and aspiring singing actor in whatever genre he may choose to focus his efforts (musical theatre, opera, concert/cabaret).

Accompanist provided. Students should come prepared with a song (memorized and with sheet music properly prepared and in a binder for use by the accompanist).

Have any of you ever needed a dental implant and had to sing with a retainer in your mouth to hide the missing tooth while you waited for the implant? If so, what kind of retainer did you use? I've heard contradicting information. One said an Essex Retainer and another one said a dental flipper. If you have lived through this, which kind of a retainer did you use.
