What if your happiest self isn’t a certain number on the scale or even the “perfect” physique you had in mind?

I used to think I’d only feel my best once I got there, leaner, bigger, more “ideal.” But some of the times I’ve felt the most alive and confident weren’t at a “goal weight” or body fat percentage at all. They were in the seasons where I was focused on living in the moment, training with purpose, fueling my body, and letting go of chasing perfect.

We get so caught up in thinking happiness is waiting on the other side of progress, but sometimes the body you feel best in isn’t the one you dreamed of, it’s the one that lets you live fully.

Don’t overlook that version of you just because it doesn’t match the image in your head.. but do overlook the mildew on my cushions 😅 I left them out in the rain now they are disgusting

I posted about this on my story yesterday, and got some questions on it so I wanted to expand a little more. This has been my experience with downsizing. Yes… I know we talk about building muscle a lot but trying to intentionally lose muscle is a thing too….

For years, I trained hard to build my upper body. Then, when I stepped into wellness, I was told to downsize. I pulled back on training, and even with barely any work, that muscle held on for a long time. Also I realized my back is that one body part that will grow like crazy…I think that’s all my Polynesian genes 😅

But here’s the thing, eventually I realized I wasn’t doing it for the stage anymore. I wanted my physique to reflect my preference. So I chose to downsize because it felt better for me. I haven’t consistently trained upper body in over two years (outside of the occasional fun session). And it’s finally getting to a point where I’m happy with the size…. the crazy part? Not only am I happy with how I look, but my body feels better too, no more trap tightness, no constant shoulder pain. I will admit, strength isn’t what it used to be which is a bummer because I loved feeling like I could throw around some heavy weight. But I get to focus on lower body lifts so it’s ok.

Anyway… that has been my experience with the downsize 🤗
