Can someone who knows concrete work explain what this is supposed to become?

My neighbor has been working on this curved form by the driveway for the past few days, and I’m honestly curious. There’s wood framing, rebar, gravel, broken concrete, and a lot going on in one spot.

Maybe it’s a walkway, driveway extension, border, or some kind of landscaping project — I really don’t know. Right now it just looks like a pretty intense DIY setup in the front yard.

I’m not trying to be rude, but when something this big is happening right out front, people are definitely going to notice and wonder what the finished plan is.

Anyone seen a project like this before? What do you think they’re building?

💸 One bad pour can cost a lot more than concrete.

After years of solid work from the same concrete contractor, this townhome foundation left us dealing with alignment issues, framing headaches, and hours of unexpected labor trying to make everything work.

That's what makes this decision so difficult. Their track record has been excellent, but foundations aren't exactly an area where mistakes are easy to overlook.

If a subcontractor caused major downstream problems after years of reliable work, would you offer a redemption project or move on immediately?

Looking for some honest opinions from people who know new construction.

We recently signed a contract for a new single-family home with a national builder, and the concrete slab/foundation was poured a couple weeks ago. Now that the framing is going up, I noticed what looks like a lot of honeycombing along the side of the concrete wall.

I brought it up to the construction manager, and they said it’s cosmetic, but looking at the side of the foundation in the photo, it doesn’t really feel cosmetic to me.

I’m not trying to overreact or assume the worst. I just want to make sure this is normal before everything gets covered up and the build moves further along.

For anyone with concrete or foundation experience, would you be concerned about this, or is this something that can be properly patched and moved on from?

Looking for some honest feedback from people who do concrete work.

I’m a general contractor and have been getting into more concrete jobs. We just poured this front sidewalk for a customer, running from the street up to the front steps, with forms, gravel prep, and cleanup still in progress around the sides.

The total price was $3,000.

I’m trying to get a feel for whether that sounds fair for a job like this, considering the length of the walkway, prep work, materials, labor, and finishing.

I’m not trying to overcharge anyone, but I also know concrete work adds up fast once you factor in everything that goes into it.

For those who do this regularly, would you consider $3k reasonable for this sidewalk, or does that seem high?

Looking for some advice on how to handle this before the rest of the job moves forward.

We’re having our front steps and driveway replaced by a local company that came recommended and has been around for years. The steps were just poured, but I’m honestly not feeling good about how they turned out.

The left side looks like the form may have shifted during the pour, which made that side look slanted. The rise on the top step is also uneven — about 5.5 inches on one side and 6.5 inches on the other — while the other steps are closer to 7 inches, so the spacing doesn’t feel consistent.

On top of that, the finish looks rough in places, with jagged edges and some messy areas along the sides.

I haven’t paid yet, and they’re still supposed to replace the driveway, but seeing the steps has me questioning whether I should let them continue.

Would you ask them to tear these out and redo them, give them a chance to fix it, or stop the job here and look for another company?

Thought I nailed the stair calculations... until I installed the stringers.🔨

My finished deck height is 27" above the slab, so I divided the rise evenly, cut the stringers, and accounted for the deck board thickness. Everything looked perfect on paper.

Now that it's installed, the top step sits several inches below the deck instead of lining up correctly.

Where did I go wrong? Bad math, wrong layout, or something else entirely? Looking for advice before I start cutting new stringers.
