CABARET SCENES LTD. is a not-for-profit, 501(c)(3) corporation incorporated in the State of New York. We are an arts and educational organization dedicated to stimulating and promoting public interest in The Great American Songbook, its composers, lyricists, singers, musical directors, arrangers, venues — and The New American Songbook’s performers, composers and lyricists. The Foundation focuses on the historical development of Cabaret, fostering an awareness and appreciation of its impact on our culture by collecting, preserving, exhibiting and interpreting an archive for a global audience. Mission: OUR ROLE AS CABARET’S ARCHIVISTS By its very existence as the world’s only hard-copy publication dedicated to the world of Cabaret, Cabaret Scenes magazine is the art form’s ongoing, ever-increasing archive of Cabaret. Since its debut in 1996, the Foundation’s magazine has featured hundreds of profiles on those who have had an impact on every aspect of cabaret, plus thousands of reviews of cabaret performances, CDs, and cabaret-relevant books. Our mission includes education, and our ambitions include collecting cabaret artifacts, works of art, literature, photographs, posters, a treasure trove of sheet music, 78s, LPs, CDs, films, books, memorabilia and other material illuminating cabaret’s history, people, and its music.
