Live from the vortex
betaparty media © 2011 is a monitor of east coast electronic music culture - keeping up with new music, events, and artists that originate here on our side of the States and elsewhere.
betaparty was founded in September of 2010 as a collaboration, spanning several states along the east coast. With the common goal to inform those not quite "in-the-know", betaparty quickly began gaining ground in the EDM blogosphere. Having interviewed the likes of Simian Mobile Disco, Laidback Luke, and Wolfgang Gartner (to name a few), betaparty continues to provide up-to-date news and coverage of shows and events taking place throughout the east coast and elsewhere. Bookmark our page and be the first of your friends to know when your favorite DJ is dropping their album or coming to a city near you!
Mission: Serving as the media hub of east coast electronic music culture.
Live from the vortex
Narkatta's 3rd installment in my Dispatches From Beyond The Stars podcast mix series, where he mixes some of the dopest tracks that come from different genres. In this one, he pays homage to Ghettofunk, a mid-tempo electronic music genre that blends breakbeat, funk, hip-hop, and bass music by remixing classic songs of the past. With remixes of Prince, David Bowie, James Brown, The Notorious B.I.G., Ray Charles, Stevie Wonder, Pink Floyd, Ms. Lauryn Hill, Etta James and yes, even Jennifer Lopez....done by fantastic remixers like Warp9 Music, DJ Jimi Needles, The Polish Ambassador, AfroQBen, Tom Showtime, Funk Ferret, WBBL, JPOD the beat chef, DJ INKO, Jayl Funk and more! https://soundcloud.com/narkatta/dispatch-003-funkraum
"Funk is the absence of any and everything you can think of, but the very essence of all that is. And saying that, I'm saying funk is anything that we create in our minds that we want to do, what we w

I didn’t quite know what to expect on the night of BNR new comer SCNTST’s debut at Icon Berlin. Weeks earlier he broke out onto the scene and a few tracks from his soundcloud had been sent out to the internet for review. Most people were unaware, however, that none of those tracks had been previewed...

Unreleased Daft Punk from 1994. Worth a listen but they've done better
To all that knew, loved, and respected Mehdi, our hearts go out to you in this time of mourning. May he rest in peace.
Another brilliant compilation from the young French prodigy, Madeon. This time he put Wolfgang Gartner’s entire catalogue in a blender, and came out with gold. Who knew he was also a talented alchemist? Amazing.
The media and some public officials have had plenty of bad things to say about the Electric Daisy Carnival , and a lot of it can be summed up by the word "rave." But this isn't 1993, and Insomniac, which produces EDC, isn't throwing parties in warehouses with no rules and no security.
Newcomer SCNTST's first set at Icon Berlin
The same guys that brought you “Mr. Spock” last year are back with their second release on VonStroke’s dirtybird lable. As expected, it’s one hell of a catchy tech house tune, although it may fall a bit short of the overall cleverness that Spock had. Give this track a few run throughs and it’ll win ...

After a disastrous 2009 and a pioneering 2010, HARD Summer 2011 had all the kinks worked out and organized what was arguably their best massive yet. With an all-star lineup in every genre, a great grassy venue, and 4 killer stages, HARD stepped up their game on the productions side and it showed. ...
If there are two producers I love but just don’t get they are Siriusmo and Jan Driver. And the fact that they can make such unconventional music that feels so right makes me love them even more. Especially Siriusmo, which is why I was excited to see his name on a track for Jan Driver’s newest relea...
Since seeing him murder live at EDC Vegas, I’ve been especially turned on to Bart B More. I’ve been following him closely since then to find out he has about 12 unreleased collabs in the works. The new Marble Music label now has 7 releases to date and of those, 25 year old Bobmo has been involved in more than half the projects (4 to be exact).
