Life advice from my Mum ❤️

A few weeks ago I posted pieces of advice, lessons or quotes I had heard throughout my life from my Dad that I found myself often sharing with others over and over again. So here is part ✌🏻… little nuggets of wisdom (that you may have already heard) from my Mum that may be a good reminder today!

◾️’Be nice to people on the way up because you’ll meet them on the way down’
Originally a quote by Wilson Mizner, this is probably the quote I remember hearing the most. I don’t think it needs much explanation. Simply be nice, don’t let your ego precede you and treat everyone equally 🫶🏻

◾️’This too shall pass’
I’m pretty sure we have all heard this before but they are four words that pack a punch! In hard times… ‘this too shall pass’, in good times… ‘this too shall pass’. The ebbs and flows of life are never far away so don’t take for granted the good and know that bad times will get better ❤️

◾️’Drop the rope’
This one we both say to each other ahhhhlot! There are lot’s of times in life where you find yourself in a battle of tug of war with others. Maybe you’re trying to lead a horse to the proverbial water and meeting resistance, sometimes you have differing opinions and everything in between. Sometimes having a battle of wills ultimately leads to a pointless game of tug of war and sometimes the best options is to simple drop the rope. Sometimes it helps them, sometimes it protects you, but knowing when to drop the rope is powerful 👊🏻

◾️’Sometimes you have to get lost to find yourself’
Rather ironically, considering I love getting lost now, as a child I was terrified of getting lost, not knowing where I was going or not being in control 😅. My Mum always used to say to me ‘it’s good to get lost’ or ‘all roads lead to Rome’ and I never really believed it. As an adult I now see the power getting lost can have. Not knowing exactly what you want in life is not necessarily a bad thing. Looking at it from a perspective of ‘f**k around and find out’ or simply going to a new city and getting lost often leads the best things. So never be afraid to not exactly know where you are or where you’re going… that’s when the best stuff happens 🙌🏻
