🌿 General Haircare Tips (All Hair Types)
1. Know Your Hair Type
Understanding whether your hair is straight, wavy, curly, or coily—and whether it’s low, medium, or high porosity—will help you choose the right products and routines.
2. Avoid Over-Washing
Washing too often strips your hair of natural oils. For most people, washing 1–2 times per week is enough. Co-wash (conditioner-only washing) in between if needed.
3. Deep Condition Weekly
Use a deep conditioner or hair mask once a week to restore moisture and strength. Look for ingredients like shea butter, honey, coconut milk, or protein-rich herbs (like fenugreek).
4. Use Sulfate-Free Shampoos
Sulfates can dry out your scalp and hair. Switch to gentle, sulfate-free shampoos that cleanse without stripping.
5. Oil Your Scalp
Apply natural oils (e.g., castor oil, amla oil, rosemary oil, or jojoba oil) 1–2 times a week to stimulate growth and nourish your scalp.
6. Trim Regularly
Trim your ends every 8–12 weeks to prevent split ends from traveling up the hair shaft.
7. Limit Heat Styling
Too much heat can cause dryness and breakage. Always use a heat protectant when blow-drying, straightening, or curling.
8. Use Satin or Silk at Night
Sleep on a satin/silk pillowcase or use a satin bonnet/scarf to reduce breakage and moisture loss overnight.
9. Hydrate from Within
Drink plenty of water and eat a diet rich in iron, protein, omega-3s, and vitamins A, C, and E.
10. Don’t Detangle Dry
Detangle your hair when it’s damp and conditioned using a wide-tooth comb or your fingers to prevent unnecessary breakage.
