In November of 2020, Oregon voters made history by approving Measure 109, creating a legal and regulated market for supervised psilocybin experiences for therapy and wellness.

Just a month and a half later, the movement lost a pioneering hero in Sheri Eckert, who co-created the Oregon campaign with her husband Tom Eckert.

In 2021, Tom Eckert established the Sheri Eckert Foundation (SEF) to honor Sheri’s legacy and help fulfill her goal: “create equitable access to psychedelic services.”

Horizons PBC is pleased to partner with SEF on Horizons Northwest, taking place at the Portland Art Museum on September 13-18, 2022. Early registration is now open.

We are proud to have Chacruna Institute as a Horizons Community Ally for 2022. Their "Religion and Psychedelics Forum" begins tomorrow and will feature four days of panels and discussion exploring the role psychedelics may have played in the history of religion, as well as the role that religion now plays in the modern psychedelic renaissance.

Chacruna takes a multidisciplinary and intercultural approach to these issues, examining important questions around mystical experience, Indigenous spirituality, religious freedom and drug policy, and how psychedelics intersect with both Eastern and Western religious traditions. On April 19, 1943, Albert Hofmann, a chemist in Basel, Switzerland, ingested 250 micrograms of a compound derived from the ergot fungus. As he started to feel the first effects of lysergic acid diethylamide, he decided to ride his bicycle home. Today and every April 19th, we commemorate the first documented effects of LSD as #BicycleDay, and celebrate the great work of Hofmann and the many researchers and scientists that continue to study this astonishing compound.

Local #NYC enthusiasts are welcome to join the Brooklyn Psychedelic Society, Psychedelic Sisterhood, and other allies for their Bicycle Day festivities this afternoon. Visit this link for details: https://buff.ly/385U84Q

According to new data from the Oregon Health Authority community interest survey, Oregonians are more interested in taking psilocybin for well-being than for depression or anxiety. Of the 4,400 people that responded to the survey 72% said they wanted to take psilocybin for general well-being and 64% for depression and anxiety.
